<p>Job Description:</p> <p>BASIC FUNCTION:</p> <p>The part-time Theatre Manager is responsible for the operational management and community engagement of the historic Casino Theatre, ensuring a positive and professional experience for all patrons, performers, and external clients. This role blends administrative, production and outreach responsibilities to facilitate excellence in theatre operations and maximize venue use by both university and external clients.</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Operational Management</p> <ul> <li>Serve as the primary point-of-contact for all external event theatre operations?overseeing the running of the venue, including opening and closing procedures, and coordinating maintenance with facilities staff and external vendors as needed. </li><li>Ensure the theatre is clean, safe, and accessible for external events while maintaining compliance with university policies and health and safety regulations, including fire and crowd safety requirements. </li><li>Maintain, analyze, and update a complete listing of patrons, reservations, and box office records for external events. </li><li>Assist directors, production teams, and event organizers with logistics, technical requirements, and backstage needs, including dressing rooms and scene shop usage. </li><li>Ensure the safe and respectful usage of technical equipment and spaces. </li></ul> <p>Scheduling & Stakeholder Liaison</p> <ul> <li>Maintain and update all venue calendars to reflect both Salve Regina and International Tennis Hall of Fame (ITHoF) events. Regularly update and manage the master calendar for all events, including university productions, external rentals, and ITHoF activities, to avoid conflicts and optimize space usage. </li><li>Act as a crucial liaison to both the ITHoF and Salve Regina, proactively communicating with both entities and ensuring the smooth coordination of shared space and foster clear and timely communication about scheduling needs and changes. </li><li>Coordinate maintenance and facility issues to appropriate staff or vendors when necessary, ensuring any issues that impact safety are addressed promptly while overseeing external events. </li><li>Coordinate event scheduling with university departments, community groups, and commercial clients, filtering all rental requests and ensuring equitable and mission-aligned access to the space. </li></ul> <p>Community Outreach & Marketing</p> <ul> <li>Maintain relationships with local organizations to increase theatre usage and support Salve Regina's mission of accessibility and community engagement. </li><li>Work with the Director of University Events & Conference Services to coordinate marketing and promotional activities for the Casino Theatre </li></ul> <p>OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <p>Advance upcoming external productions/events by organizing show-specific logistics, equipment moves, and facility reservations in collaboration with technical staff and event partners.</p> <p>Respond to correspondence, inquiries, and community engagement requests, representing the Casino Theatre to civic, school, and non-profit organizations.</p> <p>LICENSES, TOOLS, AND EQUIPMENT:</p> <p>N/A</p> <p>ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:</p> <p>N/A</p> <p>Requirements:</p> <p>Required:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree (preferred in Theater Arts or related field). </li><li>Prior experience in theatre management or operations for a performing arts venue. </li><li>Ability and willingness to regularly work a flexible and varied schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as dictated by event programming. </li><li>Knowledge of theatrical lighting and audio systems and familiarity with technical theatre, stage management, and box office procedures. </li><li>Demonstrated organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team. </li><li>Effective communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Proven ability to problem solve and remain composed under pressure. </li></ul> <p>Preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Experience managing relationships with community partners and non-profit groups. </li><li>Previous work in a university or educational theatre environment. </li><li>Knowledge of health and safety codes relevant to public assembly spaces. </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <p>Salve Regina University strives to cultivate belonging values through diversity, equity inclusion in order to foster a welcoming culture for our staff, faculty and students, as well as the wider community.
