Information about patient treatment is communicated in oral and/or written form in a concise, informative, and timely way and in accordance with all regulatory requirements. Support staff or students participating in the care of the patient are supervised to assure the appropriateness and effectiveness of care.Job Description:Principal Duties and Responsibilities1. Evaluates referred patients accurately using appropriate tests, measurements, and history.2. Recommends treatment plans in conjunction with the patient and/or family and physician which is based on the evaluation results and includes the frequency and duration of treatment, long- and short-term goals, and expected functional outcomes.3. Administers appropriate therapeutic techniques accurately and continuously monitors the patient's response to treatment, modifying the program as needed.4. Assists in orientation, training, and supervision of aides, students, and volunteers assigned to participate in patient care or departmental projects.5. Documents patient care accurately and in a timely way in the medical record and as needed to facilitate continued care or billing.6. Confers with the patient and/or family, referring physician, staff, vendors, or other facilities to facilitate or coordinate care or obtain patient equipment.7. Maintains and enhances professional knowledge and skills through participation in continuing education programs, professional organizations, and/or review of professional literature.8. Participates in departmental meetings, projects, and ongoing performance improvement activities. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED1. A Bachelor's degree or entry level Master's degree in occupational therapy.2. Current licensure to practice occupational therapy from the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.3. Minimum of one year of work experience as an occupational therapist4. Good oral and written communications skills and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with patients and other healthcare providers.5. Strong organization and time management skills to independently manage patient care load. WORKING CONDITIONS1. Normal hospital and clinic environment.2. Standing and walking, stooping and bending 60% or more of the time.3. Grasping, fine hand manipulation, and repetitive hand movements more than 60% of thea. time for outpatient treatment.4. Occasional exposure to blood/body fluids and infectious diseases.5. Complies with precautions, as defined by Infection Control staff, in patients/materials requiring Pay Range: $53.00 - $53.00The pay range listed for this position is the base hourly wage range the organization reasonably and in good faith expects to pay for this position at this time. Actual compensation is determined based on several factors, that may include seniority, education, training, relevant experience, relevant certifications, geography of work location, job responsibilities, or other applicable factors permissible by law.
