As an Inspector II, you will support the successful delivery of infrastructure projects by performing field inspections, verifying construction compliance with plans and specifications, and serving as a key liaison between contractors, project managers, and stakeholders. This role requires strong attention to detail, technical knowledge, and the ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative project team.</p> <p>What are the core responsibilities for the role?</p> <ul> <li>Perform daily field inspections to ensure construction activities comply with project plans, specifications, and applicable standards </li><li>Monitor contractor work for quality, safety, and adherence to project requirements </li><li>Document construction activities through detailed daily reports, photographs, and quantity tracking </li><li>Verify materials used and work performed meet project and regulatory requirements </li><li>Coordinate with Construction Managers, engineers, and contractors to address field issues and clarify design intent </li><li>Review and track quantities for pay applications and maintain accurate records </li><li>Observe and document testing activities (e.g., compaction, concrete, asphalt) and ensure compliance with specifications </li><li>Identify non-conforming work and communicate deficiencies to appropriate parties for resolution </li><li>Attend and support project meetings, providing updates on field progress and issues </li><li>Assist with project closeout activities, including punch lists and final inspections </li><li>Maintain a strong commitment to safety and follow all established safety protocols </li></ul> <p>Qualifications, Skills, and Competencies:</p> <ul> <li>Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience) </li><li>3-6 years of construction inspection experience, preferably in transportation or infrastructure projects </li><li>Working knowledge of construction methods, materials, and inspection practices </li><li>Experience with DOT or public agency projects is preferred </li><li>Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and standard drawings </li><li>Strong attention to detail and documentation skills </li><li>Effective communication and interpersonal skills </li><li>Ability to work independently and make sound field decisions within established guidelines </li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and construction documentation software </li><li>Relevant certifications (e.g., ACI, ATSSA, LabCAT, OSHA) are preferred or ability to obtain </li><li>Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement </li></ul> <p>Why would a candidate want this job?</p> <p>At Horrocks, you can expect a competitive base salary and award-winning benefits.
