<p>Job Description:</p> <p>GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:</p> <p>Provides effective health and physical education instruction to high school students.</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Plans and implements daily instruction in health and physical education to students in grades 9-12 </li><li>Develops and administers health and physical education classes consistent with school district curriculum, goals and objectives </li><li>Creates a strong, positive environment for student learning </li><li>Conducts ongoing assessment of student growth and progress in physical educational activities, and modifies instructional methods to fit individual student's needs, including students with special needs </li><li>Ensures parents/guardians are accurately informed of student growth and development </li><li>Organizes and maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping, grading, and reporting for all student activities, achievement and attendance as required by district procedures and applicable laws </li><li>Inspects equipment and field areas used to ensure they are in good and safe working order </li><li>Adheres to rules, regulations and by-laws of the Board of Education </li><li>Participates in professional learning and professional growth activities, including faculty committee and system-wide committee assignments </li><li>Participates in assignments and activities to promote better school-community relations (parent conferences, activities, etc.) </li><li>Performs other specific duties as assigned by the building administrator </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <p>Appropriate Connecticut teaching certification (043 Health, PreK-12 and 044 Physical Education, PreK-12). Experience with high school age students; knowledge of best practices in developing physical education curriculum and ability to modify the curriculum to meet the needs of all learners.
