In this rewarding role, you'll play a vital part in promoting health and wellness by developing and overseeing nutrition plans that enhance the quality of life for the individuals we serve.</p> <p>If you're passionate about using your expertise to support others and want to grow your career in a supportive environment, PSSC is the place for you!</p> <p>Possession of a temporary Louisiana Respiratory Therapist license; OR</p> <p>Possession of a current Louisiana Respiratory Therapist license and accreditation with the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Certified Respiratory Therapist.</p> <p>NOTES:</p> <p>Permanent status cannot be granted to an employee holding temporary respiratory therapist licensure.</p> <p>The official job specifications for this role, as defined by the State Civil Service, can be found here.</p> <p>Job Duties:</p> <ul> <li>Independently administers respiratory therapy modality with general supervision to individuals via small volume nebulizers, metered dose inhalers, oxygen concentrators, c-pap and bi-pap machines, </li><li>Tracheotomy care and suctioning, incentive spirometry, and assess clients pre and post treatment with pulse oximetry, respiratory rate, auscultate bilateral breath sounds, skin color, sputum characteristics, cough effort and pulse.   </li><li>Make rounds to complete ordered treatments and observations. Document in progress notes and Medication Administration Record for any procedures performed or medications given. </li><li>Maintain and clean all respiratory equipment, including oxygen concentrators, suction machines, CPAP and BiPAP equipment, and air compressors. Assemble and change out all disposable respiratory equipment; order oxygen and respiratory medications from the pharmacy as needed. </li><li>Maintain records of quality control and assurance reports, including quarterly assessments and pneumonia reports. </li><li>Conduct tracheotomy care evaluations for staff.  Meet with the Interdisciplinary Team, including Primary Care Providers and the nurse, to present and discuss evaluations. </li></ul> <p>Position-Specific Details:</p> <p>Department: LDH Nursing Services </p> <p>SHIFT: 5:30 AM - 6:00 PM               PASS DAYS: Day-A</p> <p>Appointment Type: This position may be filled by Detail to Special Duty, Probation, Promotion, Demotion, or Lateral Transfer.
