<p>It's a great time to join the City of Boulder!</p> <p>Application Deadline:</p> <p>May 23, 2025</p> <p>Compensation Details:</p> <p>Full Pay Range</p> <p>25.42 - 36.87</p> <p>Generally, the hiring range is from the minimum up to 80% of the range.This is a full-time hourly position.</p> <p>Scheduled Weekly Hours:</p> <p>40</p> <p>Benefit Eligibility Group:</p> <p>Non Union (30+ Hours)</p> <p>Locate the Benefit Eligibility Group value on the Employee Benefit Eligibility document to identify the benefits offered for this job.</p> <p>Job Description Summary:</p> <p>GYMNASTICS</p> <p>Under general supervision of the Recreation Program Supervisor, to coordinate the Boulder Parks and Recreation Department's Gymnastics programs, and to perform related duties as required, with a focus on Master Plan initiatives to lead the department in a growth of youth engagement and community health and wellness.</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>GYMNASTICS</p> <p>ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>Works in a collaborative manner to help implement the City of Boulder gymnastics program, which includes the following:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Coordinate portions of the City's recreational programs, including, but not limited to open gyms, camps, instructional recreation programs, birthday parties, youth outreach, special events, and any other services as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Schedule adult and/or youth programs, non-standard staff and facilities for recreation services.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinate and oversee gymnastics program's service delivery goals which may include research best practice methods, create program plans, evaluate existing programs to determine how best to meet community recreational needs.</p> </li><li> <p>Manage contracted programs and services as lead representative between the city and contractor.</p> </li><li> <p>Be an active member in community engagement and outreach projects for special events and Department efforts.</p> </li></ul> <p>Ensure all practical safety measures are observed, which includes, but is not limited to the following:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Enforce safety standards.</p> </li><li> <p>Train non-standards employees in safe teaching methods and supervise their work as necessary.</p> </li><li> <p>Meet all licensing and required certifications as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Take proper care of equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct regular inspections.</p> </li></ul> <p>Perform administrative tasks, which includes, but is not limited to the following:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Make recommendations and implements specific portions of the budget.</p> </li><li> <p>May seek alternative funding sources, if necessary, through partnership fundraising, sponsorships, and grant writing.</p> </li><li> <p>Interview, hire, train and supervise non-standard staff. May write and produce training manuals and rulebooks for non-standard staff.</p> </li><li> <p>Compile and monitor records and statistics for programs related to non-standard staff and programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Organize and submit payroll, invoices, and purchasing card statements.</p> </li><li> <p>Order supplies such as equipment for programs.</p> </li><li> <p>Utilize Departmental recreation programming software for facility booking, program maintenance, and program registration.</p> </li><li> <p>May update information on the City weather-line and website for program communication.</p> </li><li> <p>Meet and communicate with standard staff to schedule program offerings based on space availability and changing needs.</p> </li></ul> <p>Perform public relations and marketing tasks, which includes, but is not limited to the following:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Organize and submit recreation guide and website information. This includes writing program descriptions and developing marketing content as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>May produce public education and training presentations for various audiences.</p> </li><li> <p>Coordinates marketing efforts with programs, facilities, and Department marketing staff.</p> </li></ul> <p>Other:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Perform related duties as required to meet the needs of the City.</p> </li><li> <p>Promote a culture of teamwork and synergy through collaboration and communication.</p> </li><li> <p>May serve on division, department, or City committees and task forces.</p> </li><li> <p>Update job knowledge to remain current with trends, techniques, equipment and regulations.</p> </li><li> <p>Generate creative and innovative solutions to manage organizational issues and opportunities.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain and promote professional ethics (i.e., honesty, integrity, respect, fairness, caring) in all conduct.</p> </li><li> <p>Know and comply with all City and Department policies, participate in professional trainings and development, and adhere to attendance and workplace attire policies.</p> </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li> <p>Ability to work tactfully and effectively with the public.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to give verbal instructions and to inspect the work of employees supervised.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to ensure all practical safety measures are observed.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to utilize all required safety equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Effective verbal and written communication skills.</p> </li><li> <p>General computer experience.</p> </li><li> <p>Have and maintain acceptable background information including criminal conviction record.</p> </li><li> <p>Valid Colorado driver's license and ability to maintain acceptable motor vehicle record.</p> </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li> <p>Former or active membership in USA Gymnastics, SafeSport, Concussion Training, and Safety and Risk Management.</p> </li><li> <p>CPR/AED certified.</p> </li><li> <p>Familiarity with positive youth development principles and strengths-based approaches to prevention and intervention.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge and experience in community development concepts and practices.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience working with recreation software.</p> </li><li> <p>Well-rounded experience coordinating community recreational programs for youth and adults.</p> </li><li> <p>Bi-lingual skills.</p> </li></ul> <p>REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor's Degree in Recreation or related field; or any combination of equivalent education/experience</p> </li><li> <p>A minimum of two (2) years of experience in a leadership role in recreation programming</p> </li></ul> <p>SUPERVISION</p> <p>Supervision Received: Recreation Program Supervisor</p> <p>Supervision Exercised: Contract employees, non-standard employees, volunteers and interns</p> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS AND REQUIREMENTS</p> <ul> <li> <p>Must have sufficient strength, agility, stamina, and flexibility to lift, carry or move a variety of objects up to 20 lbs.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to work while crouching, kneeling, bending, stooping, or assisting children for long periods of time.</p> </li><li> <p>Must have sufficient hearing to be able to hear and discriminate differing sounds in a variety of situations.</p> </li><li> <p>Sufficient vision to be able to discriminate between colors, size, and type of objects and people, both close and distant.</p> </li><li> <p>The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.</p> </li></ul> <p>Additional Job Description:</p> <p>Last updated: 9/28/2023</p> <p>The City of Boulder is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace.
