<p>The Foreman, Duplicating Operator performs advanced technical and supervisory work in the overall operation of the print shop in pursuit of higher operating efficiency, and customer satisfaction by making optimum use of materials, manpower and equipment available. Work involves training employees in technical skills and safety procedures, communicating with customers, maintaining quality production standards, overseeing equipment maintenance and inventory. Assigns, schedules, controls, and coordinates all layout, reproduction and bindery activities on a day-to-day basis, exercising judgment and decision-making under general direction. The Foreman, Duplicating Operator may perform other production and equipment operations tasks relevant to the Print Shop as required. Work assignments are carried out independently in accordance with established methods, techniques, and procedures. Work is performed under the general supervision of the supervisor.The following duties are representative of performance expectations. A reasonable accommodation may be made to enable a qualified individual with a disability to perform essential functions.</p> <ul> <li>Operate various types of print shop equipment and various other machinery, i.e., collator, paper cutter or hole puncher </li><li>Conduct periodic inspections of print shop equipment, perform routine maintenance and repairs, and ensure the proper care, condition, appearance, and repair or replacement of print shop equipment </li><li>Review equipment needs, prepare specifications for new equipment and recommend to supervisor the purchase of necessary parts for repairs </li><li>Oversee equipment servicing from outside vendors, make recommendations concerning equipment servicing and maintain record of service calls </li><li>Plan and organize maintenance and work schedules </li><li>Oversee the daily operations of the print shop, including scheduling, assigning, directing, and evaluating the work of the department employees. </li><li>Provide training for the department employees </li><li>Assist work crews on assigned tasks </li><li>Promote good safety practices and procedures </li><li>Provide consulting services on layout, type size, paper selection and other printing concerns </li><li>Schedule printing jobs and estimate time, cost and materials needed to complete work </li><li>Duplicate, copy and/or print all district forms, reports, brochures and programs </li><li>Check work for accuracy and for attractiveness in layout </li><li>Make sure printing work is of good quality and performed in a timely manner </li><li>Prepare specifications for supplies for district-wide printing; evaluate quotations and recommend purchase of supplies </li><li>Calculate schedule of charges for charge-back system; project budgetary needs of Printing Department as required </li><li>Recommend and purchase materials and supplies needed for completing duplicating work </li><li>Safeguard paper stock and maintain inventory records </li><li>Stack and wrap final work for pick-up </li><li>Receive receipts for all deliveries </li><li>Maintain inventory control system for the department and provide for timely reordering of supplies and equipment </li><li>Oversee maintenance of orderly workrooms and stockrooms, proper storage of supplies and care of equipment in Printing Department </li><li>Keep records of work performed </li><li>Must be available for emergency printing at all times </li><li>Complete paperwork as required by supervisor </li><li>Prepare invoices showing quantity of paper used, type of work performed and time spent on each work order </li><li>Serve as a source of information about printing </li><li>Keep informed of all new rules, regulations, local, state and federal laws which pertain to the school environment </li><li>Make contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy </li><li>Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., personnel evaluations </li><li>Interact in a positive manner with staff, students, and parents (as required) </li><li>Promote good public relations by personal appearance, attitude and conversation </li><li>Respond to routine questions and requests in an appropriate manner </li><li>Provide support services district-wide </li><li>Ensures department and services are cost effective and that funds are managed prudently. </li><li>Develops and monitors the annual budget for the department. </li><li>Implements the policies established by federal and state laws, Department of Education rules, and local board policy in the area assigned. </li><li>Graduation from an accredited High School or G.E.D. </li><li>A minimum of three years paid experience at the skilled level in offset duplicating equipment operation </li><li>State of Ohio Drivers License </li><li>Ability to prioritize and multi-task. </li><li>Note: This document describes the general purpose and responsibilities assigned to this job and is not an exhaustive list of all responsibilities and duties that may be assigned or skills that may be required. </li></ul> <p>This is a classified position. </p> <p>The selection process will consist of a competitive examination with credit for education and experience. A passing score must be obtained on the competitive examination in order to receive credit for education and experience. TEST WEIGHTS: Competitive Examination 70%, Education 20%, Experience 10%. </p> <p>Candidates must meet the qualifications and requirements listed in the announcement at the time of examination and at the time of appointment.</p> <p>VETERANS: A veteran of the Armed Forces of the United States, honorably discharged from active duty, desiring a bonus of 5 points added to his/her passing grade, must submit proof of discharge in the form of a DD-214 with application.</p> <p>NOTE: The competitive examination may be suspended if shown to be impractical because of an insufficient number of qualified candidates. The candidates will then be ranked in a standard manner based on 70% for qualifying, 20% for education, and 10% for experience.</p> <p> </p> <p>Since this examination is posted on a combined basis, two separate eligibility lists will be generated with promotional candidates considered before open candidates.</p> <p>DRIVER'S LICENSE: An applicant having a valid driver's license from another state will be accepted conditionally provided that, if selected, an Ohio Driver's License must be obtained prior to appointment.
