<p>Utah Valley University is seeking a skilled and safety-minded Electrician to help power the learning environment for our students, faculty, and staff. In this role, you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of campus electrical systems ranging from 120 to 12,470 volts, ensuring compliance with electrical codes and industry standards.</p> <p>This position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of projects that directly support university operations, from keeping classrooms and labs running smoothly to maintaining critical campus infrastructure. As part of a collaborative facilities team, you will play an essential role in creating a safe, reliable, and efficient campus environment where students can thrive.</p> <ul> <li>Identification and diagnosis of faults in University-owned electrical and lighting systems. Procurement of materials required for corrective maintenance, repairs, and replacement installations. Response to unscheduled work requests through the Computerized Maintenance Management System CMMS. </li><li>Coordination with University personnel to perform repairs while minimizing service disruptions. Coordination, planning, material procurement, execution, and documentation of electrical infrastructure upgrades, remodels, new installations, and new construction. Monitoring of project work performed by outside contractors to ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA-7, and University standards. Installation of electrical systems as part of planned construction or renovation projects. </li><li>Preventative maintenance and documentation of University-owned electrical and lighting infrastructure. Scheduled inspection, testing, and routine upkeep of systems ranging from to ,7 volts AC. Use of CMMS to track and maintain compliance with preventative maintenance schedules. Procurement and management of materials commonly used in preventative work. </li><li>Electronic personal time worked and leave entry. Electronic time and cost documentation entry of tasks performed. </li><li>Training, education and collaboration to ensure safe, code compliant practices, customer service integrity and University policies/procedures adherence. </li><li>Performs other job-related duties, as assigned. </li></ul> <p>High School Diploma plus (minimum) 4 years of directly related experience.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <p>Completion of a 4-year electrical apprenticeship. Possession of current Utah Apprentice, Journeyman or Master Electrician license.Knowledge</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of electrical industry standards, electrical safety procedures, prudent electrical practices, National Electrical Code (NEC), and National Fire </li><li>Protection Agency (NFPA) structures, code,s and standards, complex electrical system and lighting system calculations, components, and functions. </li></ul> <p>Skills</p> <ul> <li> <p>Skill in identifying, diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing non-functioning, existing electrical and lighting equipment and systems. </p> </li><li> <p>Skill providing cost estimates, timelines, and execution of electrical and lighting maintenance, upgrades, and installations. </p> </li><li> <p>Skill in interpersonal relationships and customer service.</p> </li></ul> <p>Abilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Ability to read and interpret complex electrical and lighting blueprints and schematic drawings. </p> </li><li> <p>Ability to safely and effectively work on energized electrical and lighting systems/circuits. </p> </li><li> <p>Ability to cultivate and maintain working relationships with co-workers, University staff, faculty, students, and the general public.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to use reason, logic, and sound judgment to make decisions in emergency/life safety situations. </p> </li><li> <p>Ability to respond to after-hours electrical and lighting emergencies as needed.</p> </li></ul>
