<p>General Function</p> <p>The Medical Director (MD) should work with the Program Director and Director of Clinical Education to ensure that didactic and laboratory instruction and supervised clinical practice experiences meet current practice standards for respiratory therapists.</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Have instructional involvement in training Respiratory Therapists in a clinical, classroom and/or lab setting. </li><li>Be an active member of the programs advisory committee. </li><li>Reviews curriculum ensuring that both didactic and supervised clinical instructors meet current acceptable practice guidelines. </li><li>Maintains all relevant board certifications. </li><li>Maintains credentialing at a clinical site being actively used by the program. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Requirements and Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>The Medical Director MD must be a Board certified as recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) or American Osteopathic Association (AOA) in a specialty relevant to respiratory care, as well as, licensed physician, and credentialed at one of its program's clinical affiliates, with recognized qualifications, by training and/or experience, in the management of respiratory disease and in respiratory care practices.</p> <p>Additional Information</p> <p>Working Days: Monday - Thursday</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Worker Characteristics:</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of current standard practices of Respiratory Therapists. </li><li>Knowledge of current CoARC Standards. </li><li>Professional communication skills with the local healthcare community. </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions:</p> <p>Typical office, classroom and hospital settings</p>
