<p>Houck Services, Inc., one of the area's leading Commercial and Industrial Specialty Contractors, is looking for sheet metal roofers to join the Sheet Metal Roofing Department. Experience is preferred, but not required.</p> <p>We offer competitive wages, earned paid vacation, 401K, Health/Dental/Vision insurance, and EAP benefits. Reliable transportation is required. Pre-employment drug testing and physical is also a requirement. Possibility of Prevailing Wage pay.</p> <p>EEO Employer/Protected Veteran/Disabled</p> <p>Job Description</p> <p>Summary/Objective</p> <p>Understand all aspects off roofing basics and processes as it relates to the installation of sheet metal. Fabricate and install all types of sheet metal for all roof types.</p> <p>Essential Functions:</p> <p>Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <ul> <li>Understand roof basics and processes. </li><li>Comfortable with extreme heights, walking purlins/steel, and steep slopes on roof structures. </li><li>Have ability to operate standard roofing equipment (buggies, generator, tractor, etc…). </li><li>Efficiency in installation such as gluing and rolling out EPDM products. </li><li>Understand and implement safe working practices in the shop and out in the field. </li><li>Own and have a proficient use of the following: tape measure, combination square, snips (right and left), hand seamers, pop-rivet gun, utility knife, and chalk line. </li><li>Able to solder safely and effectively with iron weights and proper furnace temperatures. </li><li>Able to fabricate and install coping, gravel stop, gutters, downspouts, through-wall flashing, counter flashing, penetration flashing, etc… </li><li>Cleans construction site to eliminate possible hazards. </li><li>Understanding of installations on shingle, EPDM, heat-welded, cold process, and hot applied roof systems. </li><li>Able to install Butler roof systems, standing seam, mechanically seamed, copper flat seam, wall panels, soffits, and trims. </li><li>Removes snow and water from roofs as required. </li><li>Loads and unloads truck as required. </li><li>Erects scaffolding, sets up ladders, or works out of aerial equipment to work above ground. </li><li>Receives instructions from supervisor. </li><li>Abides by all OSHA and Houck safety guidelines. </li><li>Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner. </li></ul> <p>Competencies</p> <ul> <li>Building and construction standards and methods </li><li>Correct tools to use, knowledge of their functions and proper equipment selection </li><li>Correct disposal methods </li><li>Basic mathematical skills </li><li>Public and personnel safety </li><li>Control operations of equipment or systems </li><li>Understanding and able to follow written directions </li><li>Problem identification and solutions of problems </li><li>Judgment and decision making, time management </li><li>Effective communication and people skills </li><li>Active listening and giving full attention to what people are saying </li><li>Match and detect differences between colors, shades, and texture </li><li>Problem-solving, decision-making and time management capabilities </li><li>Ability to pivot between activities </li><li>Good spatial awareness </li><li>Ability to retain information </li><li>Personal effectiveness/credibility </li></ul> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>Functions can take place indoors or outdoors, sometimes in high, precarious places with fumes and/or airborne particles. The standard work environment has loud to very loud noise levels associated with various equipment, coworkers and phone conversations. Often work must be performed in high and/or cramped workspaces and awkward positions. The employee works around hazardous situations, materials and equipment.</p> <p>Physical Demands</p> <p>Physical demands are based on the ability to perform the following actions throughout an 8-10 hour period of work for a 4-7 day work week.</p> <ul> <li>Physical exertion over long periods of time for manual labor </li><li>Flexibility throughout body, arms, and other extremities </li><li>Lifting heavy loads continuously without fatiguing </li><li>Maintain one's body balance on flat, sloped or uneven surfaces and when climbing </li><li>Agility of arms and legs, and the ability to perform repeated muscle exertion </li><li>Ability to perform repeated movements of the body, fingers and hands </li><li>Steady hand/arm coordination </li><li>Agility of hand movement to grip, manipulate or assemble objects for more than four hours a day </li><li>Stand and walk throughout an extended workday </li><li>Lift up to 100 pounds on occasion and up to 50 pounds regularly </li><li>Excellent vision skills (with or without correction) are required </li><li>Ability to clearly hear within speech range in an environment with construction noise </li><li>Ability to kneel, squat, or bend consistently for more than four hours a day </li><li>Ability to perform repetitive motion over the course of the workday </li><li>Work outdoors </li></ul> <p>Supervisory Responsibility</p> <p>This position has no supervisory requirements.</p> <p>Position Type</p> <p>Full-Time/Variable Hours</p> <p>Compensation</p> <p>Hourly</p> <p>Benefits</p> <p>Medical/Dental/Vision benefits available after completion of Introductory Period.</p> <p>Required Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma or GED </li><li>Comparable Experience </li></ul> <p>Travel</p> <p>Mostly in-state travel required, sometimes overnight or multiple-day stays out of town.
