<p>CTG's long-standing Fortune 500 client of over 15 years has a W2 contract assignment for a Mechanical Engineer III. Type: Contract Job Title: Mechanical Engineer III Location: Hickory, NC Pay Rate: Based on experience <em>Candidates must be able to commute and work onsite in Hickory, NC</em> Work Hours: M-F 8am-5pm Education: BS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or comparable engineering experience Description: The Mechanical Engineer III will serve as a key resource for Plant Engineering, providing mechanical design support on project work to improve existing fiber optic cable manufacturing equipment. This role requires hands-on involvement in mechanical system design, integration, and troubleshooting, working collaboratively with a cross-functional team to drive continuous improvement in manufacturing processes. Scope of Position: • Design tooling and/or mechanical assemblies utilizing Inventor or AutoCAD • Obtain quotes and order components • Revise equipment drawings • Develop experimental plans to validate designs • Assemble or oversee assembly of systems with opportunities for hands-on work • Debug and resolve issues during integration into production equipment • Collaborate with IT, process, and electrical engineers/technicians • Partner with operations to update documentation and support training Travel Requirements: Negligible Requirements: • BS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering Technology, or equivalent experience • 5+ years of relevant engineering experience Required Qualifications: • Strong background in mechanical system design and integration • Proficiency in Inventor (or similar 3D CAD software), Vault, and AutoCAD • Knowledge of drafting standards including GD&T • Ability to coordinate with machine shops/vendors for part procurement • Hands-on troubleshooting experience with mechanical systems (pneumatics, flow control, water cooling, etc.) • Experience with manufacturing equipment repair and maintenance • Proven ability to manage mechanics/electricians for equipment assembly and installation Desired Qualifications: • Familiarity with plastic extrusion manufacturing • Experience with electrical troubleshooting (low/medium voltage, motion control, PLCs, temperature control) • Working knowledge of data analysis tools such as Excel, PI, and/or PowerBI Soft Skills: • Strong team player with excellent communication skills • Self-starter with results-oriented mindset • Collaborative across disciplines (IT, electrical, process engineering) • Safety-conscious with experience in manufacturing or construction environments Additional Information: • No third-party resumes will be accepted • Drug testing and/or other employment-related inquiries may be conducted • CTG will consider for employment qualified applicants with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws • Must be able to work on a W2 basis (no C2C or third-party vendors) • CTG is an Equal Employment Opportunity employer • CTG is an E-Verify Company To Apply: To be considered for this opportunity, please apply directly through our website by clicking the link below or email your Word version resume and salary expectations to Jamie.Robinson@ctg.com.
