We welcome talented, high-energy, fun team members to partner with our community to enhance our quality of life through environmental stewardship and economic vitality.</p> <p>Location: William R Davies Recycling Center, 4635 Pineville-Matthews Rd, Charlotte, NC 28226</p> <p>More About the Role:</p> <p>Please note this is a part-time position for 20 hours per week. This position will primarily require work on Fridays and Saturdays at The William R. Davies Recycling Center. Duties will involve general outdoor labor and assisting customers with recycling inquiries along with overall site cleanliness</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>Monitors the safe delivery and disposal of solid waste at assigned transfer station or landfill. This</p> <p>position, under direct supervision, is responsible for performing manual labor and ensuring safety</p> <p>procedures are followed at transfer site or landfill to load/unload trash, debris and junked furniture and</p> <p>appliances.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <p>Work assignments in accordance with close supervision and specific instructions on new</p> <p>assignments;</p> <p>Perform repetitive tasks under general supervision after they are learned;</p> <p>May drive a vehicle to and from work locations or to pick up and deliver materials;</p> <p>Assist in directing traffic flow of vehicles entering a solid waste facility to the proper area to unload</p> <p>Assure that materials remain in the area and are not hauled away as salvage</p> <p>Interact with customers to direct to proper disposal locations.</p> <p>May perform vehicle load inspections and monitors incoming loads for unacceptable materials</p> <p>Keep work area clean and free of debris to prevent damage to incoming vehicles</p> <p>May build, maintain or erect signs at solid waste facilities to direct traffic</p> <p>Assist with cleaning and maintenance of trucks and tools</p> <p>Load and unloads heavy material from trucks, equipment, and vans</p> <p>Move and aid in moving large and bulky objects</p> <p>Perform general grounds keeping such as picking up trash and debris, mowing grass, and</p> <p>cleaning</p> <p>Work safely and report unsafe situations to supervisory staff</p> <p>May operate non-CDL required vehicles as needed</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Experience:</p> <p>No experience required.</p> <p>Education:</p> <p>High School Diploma or equivalent</p> <p>Combination of relevant education and relevant experience accepted?: Yes</p> <p>Licenses and Certifications</p> <p>May require a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License</p> <p>May require the ability to obtain and maintain County driving privilege's</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications</p> <p>Preferably some working knowledge of trade methods and practices, or ability to readily learn the</p> <p>use of tools and materials, work methods and work practices and use and operation of related</p> <p>equipment;</p> <p>Ability to follow written and oral instructions;</p> <p>Ability to make simple arithmetical computations and perform routine maintenance tasks;</p> <p>Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships;</p> <p>Ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity.</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</p> <p>Knowledge of</p> <p>Light equipment used in maintenance, grounds keeping, and construction</p> <p>Occupational hazards and necessary safety precautions applicable to safe operation of this</p> <p>equipment</p> <p>Basic tools used in maintenance and construction work</p> <p>Skills</p> <p>Operating light powered tools, such as drills, mowers, blowers and other assigned equipment</p> <p>Performing heavy manual labor, sometimes in adverse weather conditions</p> <p>Understanding of safety</p> <p>Skill with fueling and mixing oil and gas for small equipment</p> <p>Abilities</p> <p>Adaptability: Maintaining effectiveness when experiencing major changes in work responsibilities</p> <p>or environment; adjusting effectively to work within new work structures, processes, requirements</p> <p>or cultures</p> <p>Communication: Clearly conveying information and ideas through a variety of media to individuals</p> <p>or groups in a manner that engages the audience and helps them understand and retain the</p> <p>information provided</p> <p>Contributing to Team Success: Actively participating as a member of a team to move the team</p> <p>toward the completion of goals</p> <p>Energy: Consistently maintaining high levels of activity or productivity; operating with vigor,</p> <p>effectiveness, and determination over extended periods of time</p> <p>Safety Awareness: Identifying and correcting conditions that affect employee safety; upholding</p> <p>safety standards</p> <p>Computer Skills</p> <p>Basic understanding of applicable computer programs</p> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>Works in outdoor exposed to weather conditions</p> <p>Selection</p> <p>This classification has been identified as having a role in the development of</p> <p>ADA compliant technologies and for which the incumbent agrees to follow</p> <p>County policies to the best of their abilities in order to meet these obligations.</p> <p>No</p> <p>Reasonable Accommodations Statement</p> <p>To accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform, with or without reasonable</p> <p>accommodation, each essential function satisfactorily.
