<p>Position Summary</p> <p>This position is responsible for processing all release of information requests in a timely and efficient manner ensuring accuracy and providing customers with the highest quality product and customer service. Associate must at all times safeguard and protect the patient's right to privacy by ensuring that only authorized individuals have access to the patient's medical information and that all releases of information are in compliance with the request, authorization, company policy and HIPAA regulations.</p> <p>Primary Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Handle medical record request received via; mail, fax or phone call </li><li>Log medical record requests into MRO software. </li><li>Determine records to be released by reviewing requestor information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines and obtaining pertinent patient data from various sources, including electronic, off-site, or physical records that match patient request. </li><li>If necessary, respond and process requests from physician offices on a priority basis and fax information to the physician office. </li><li>Comply with site facility policies and regulations. </li><li>Escalate issues to manager that delay timely release of records. </li><li>Other duties as assigned by Assistant Manager </li></ul> <p>Desired Job Qualifications/Skill Sets</p> <ul> <li>High School Diploma/GED </li><li>Previous Release of Information in the Medical Record field helpful </li><li>Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications. One or more years' experience entering data into computer systems. </li><li>Strong verbal communication skills; demonstrated success responding to customer inquiries. </li><li>Demonstrated success working in an environment that requires attention to detail. </li><li>Proven track record of dependability. </li><li>Prior work experience in Release of Information is a plus. </li><li>Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus. </li><li>Knowledge of HIPAA regulations is preferred. </li></ul>
