<ul> <li>ONLY PINELLAS COUNTY GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES WITHIN THE STORMWATER AND VEGETATION DIVISION OF PUBLIC WORKS MAY APPLY* </li></ul> <p>Public Works Stormwater Operations is seeking a Crew Chief 2 to lead a dedicated team. This position involves overseeing daily operations at permitted facilities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and managing a team of crew members engaged in the maintenance, repair, and reconstruction of Pinellas County's stormwater ponds, structures, and ditches. The Crew Chief will operate complex heavy construction equipment, including Gradalls, hydraulic excavators, and track-hoes with attachments, while maintaining a safe working environment and adhering to company policies and industry standards.</p> <p>Work Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM</p> <p>What Would You Do?</p> <ul> <li> <p>Lead and supervise a crew of workers in the daily activities of the permitted facilities.</p> </li><li> <p>Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations pertaining to facility operations and stormwater management.</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct regular safety meetings and training sessions to promote a culture of safety among crew members.</p> </li><li> <p>Monitor and evaluate crew performance, providing guidance, training, and support as needed.</p> </li><li> <p>Schedule and delegate tasks to crew members, ensuring efficiency and effectiveness in operations.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain accurate records of crew activities, safety incidents, performance reviews and regulatory compliance documentation.</p> </li><li> <p>Operate complex heavy construction equipment, including Gradalls, hydraulic excavators, tankers, track-hoes, and rubber tire backhoes.</p> </li><li> <p>Determine direction of water flow, functionality, and investigation to resolve drainage problems.</p> </li><li> <p>Review construction plans and manage construction activities in accordance with specifications.</p> </li><li> <p>Performs related work as assigned or required.</p> </li></ul> <p>What Do You Need To Have?</p> <p>Experience: Public Works (maintenance, construction or repair work experience specializing in Right-of-Way Drainage or Stormwater facility maintenance), utilities, general construction, maintenance, construction or repair work that includes lead worker, supervision or supervisory training</p> <ul> <li> <p>3 years of experience as described above, or;</p> </li><li> <p>Associate's or higher-level degree at least 1 year of experience as described above.</p> </li><li> <p>Equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.</p> </li><li> <p>Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.</p> </li></ul> <p>Additional Requirements</p> <ul> <li> <p>Proven experience in a supervisory role within a permitted facility or similar environment, particularly in Public Works, maintenance, construction, or repair specializing in stormwater.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance standards, safety protocols, and operational procedures.</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.</p> </li><li> <p>Current Florida Commercial Driver's License Class B and any necessary endorsements.</p> </li><li> <p>Leadership qualities to provide managerial and technical guidance.</p> </li><li> <p>Certification in:</p> </li><li> <p>Florida Department of Transportation Temporary Traffic Control (TTC) Intermediate Level</p> </li><li> <p>Illicit Discharge, Spill Prevention, and Response Training</p> </li><li> <p>ICS 100, 200 & 700 Training</p> </li><li> <p>Erosion & Sediment Control</p> </li><li> <p>Complete OSHA 30-hour Construction Industry training</p> </li><li> <p>Availability to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and/or disaster situations.</p> </li></ul> <p>Highly Desirable</p> <ul> <li> <p>Additional certifications related to facility operations and heavy equipment operations.</p> </li><li> <p>Current Florida Commercial Driver's License Class A and endorsement.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of stormwater drainage principles, methods, materials and equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to supervise on a project basis and prepare routine reports.</p> </li><li> <p>Knowledge of modern techniques, methods, procedures, principles and practices of stormwater permitting.</p> </li><li> <p>Proficient in Microsoft Office Suites; including Word, Excel, Outlook, Powerpoint.</p> </li><li> <p>Effectively communicate written and oral directives and instructions with all levels of staff, public and other organizations.</p> </li><li> <p>Skilled in utilizing asset and data management system software, including OPUS/Oracle, Cityworks, ESRI GIS and /or Mapping of County Assets.</p> </li></ul> <p>Why Choose Pinellas County?</p> <p>When you join Pinellas County, you're not just taking on a job-you're investing in your future.
