A Typical Day Position Summary The Vice President of Title Review provides enterprise-level leadership and strategic oversight for all title review operations. This role ensures operational excellence, regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, and talent development while aligning departmental objectives with corporate strategy. The VP serves as a trusted partner to executive leadership, driving performance, strengthening governance, and fostering a high-performing, accountable culture. Leadership Competency Alignment Strategic Leadership Sets a clear vision and long-term strategy for the Title Review function aligned with enterprise goals. Anticipates industry trends, regulatory changes, and volume shifts; proactively adjusts operational strategy. Translates executive priorities into measurable departmental objectives. Drives scalable solutions to support growth and changing business demands. Operational Excellence Oversees high-volume title review pipelines (Purchase, Refinance, Specialty). Establishes performance standards, SLAs, and quality benchmarks. Implements standardized policies and procedures to ensure consistency and efficiency. Uses data analytics to improve turnaround time, productivity, and defect rates. Ensures resource planning and staffing models support volume forecasts. Risk Management & Governance Ensures compliance with federal, state, agency, and investor requirements. Mitigates legal and financial risk by identifying title defects, lien issues, vesting discrepancies, and policy gaps. Maintains audit readiness and partners with Compliance, Legal, and Risk teams. Establishes strong internal controls and governance frameworks. Talent Development & People Leadership Builds and leads high-performing managers and review teams. Coaches leaders to strengthen technical expertise and decision-making capabilities. Drives a culture of accountability, ownership, and continuous learning. Develops succession plans and future leaders within the organization. Promotes employee engagement and retention strategies. Collaboration & Influence Partners cross-functionally with Underwriting, Closing, Secondary Marketing, Legal, Servicing, and Operations. Influences executive stakeholders through data-driven insights and recommendations. Builds strong vendor and title company partnerships. Leads change initiatives effectively across teams and business units. Results Orientation Owns department KPIs including productivity, quality, compliance metrics, and financial performance. Drives accountability for meeting and exceeding performance targets. Identifies cost efficiencies while maintaining risk controls. Delivers measurable improvements in pipeline management and quality assurance. Innovation & Continuous Improvement Champions process automation and workflow optimization. Leverages technology and reporting tools to enhance performance visibility. Encourages problem-solving and innovation at all leadership levels. Leads transformation initiatives to modernize title review operations. What You'll Bring Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Legal Studies, or related field. 7-10+ years of progressive mortgage/title industry experience. 5+ years of senior leadership experience in title, underwriting, or risk functions. Deep knowledge of title commitments, policies, endorsements, curative processes, and investor guidelines. Demonstrated experience leading high-volume operational teams. Strong analytical, executive communication, and change management skills.
