<p>The EMS (Emergency Medical Services) Skills Lab Trainer supports the Primary Instructor with hands-on learning by providing assistance with practical scenario evaluations and ensuring students master critical pre-hospital care skills through demonstration and practice. Additionally, the EMS Skills Lab Trainer assists with the logistical maintenance of the lab, including setup, clean-up, and restocking of essential training equipment for a safe, effective, and well-organized training environment. </p> <p>This is an as-needed, casual position and requires Saturday availability (generally 9:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.) at the Chadron campus.</p> <p>Job descriptions are intended to present a descriptive list of the range of duties performed by employees and are not intended to reflect all duties performed within the job.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Instruct students in proper execution of EMS skills assigned for each lab session.</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct skills check-offs to verify student competency and adherence to training protocols.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist in setting up practical skills scenarios, ensuring equipment functionality and safety.</p> </li><li> <p>Support the evaluation process during scenario-based assessments.</p> </li><li> <p>Assist the Primary Instructor with clean-up activities, including restocking supply bags, organizing gear, and resetting instructional spaces.</p> </li><li> <p>Model professional behavior consistent with EMS practice, safety standards, and College expectations.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicate student progress, concerns, or performance issues to the Primary EMS Lab Instructor or EMS Program Director as appropriate.</p> </li><li> <p>Maintain program equipment in clean, functional, and ready-to-use condition.</p> </li><li> <p>Perform other duties as assigned.</p> </li></ul> <p>Any combination of experience and training that would likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:</p> <p>Education:</p> <ul> <li> <p>High school diploma or equivalent required.</p> </li><li> <p>Postsecondary coursework in EMS or related health sciences preferred.</p> </li></ul> <p>Experience:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Experience demonstrating EMS skills in a training, clinical, or field environment preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience effectively interacting with individuals from diverse backgrounds preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience working collaboratively with instructors, trainers, or EMS personnel preferred.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience following structured protocols, managing equipment, and supporting hands-on learning activities preferred.</p> </li></ul> <p>License or Certificate:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Current State or National Registry EMT license required for Basic Life Support (BLS) skills labs.</p> </li><li> <p>Current State or National Registry Paramedic license required for Advanced Life Support (ALS) skills labs.</p> </li><li> <p>State EMS Instructor (EMSI) license preferred but not required.</p> </li><li> <p>Possession of, or the ability to obtain, an appropriate, valid driver's license and an acceptable driving record that does not exclude the driver from coverage under WNCC's vehicle insurance required.</p> </li><li> <p>Work involves standing for extended periods, bending, reaching, kneeling, and moving between lab stations.</p> </li><li> <p>Must be able to lift, carry, and move equipment or supply bags up to 50 pounds.</p> </li><li> <p>Frequent use of hands to demonstrate skills, operate EMS equipment, and manipulate training tools.</p> </li><li> <p>Involves exposure to simulation materials, manikins, and realistic EMS training scenarios.</p> </li><li> <p>Work is performed in active lab settings that may include noise, movement, and dynamic instructional activity.</p> </li><li> <p>Saturday availability and on-site work at the campus are required.</p> </li></ul>
