The City of Maple Grove is proud to employ over 250 benefit-earning employees, 500+ part-time, casual, temporary, seasonal employees, and 100 paid-on-call firefighters to staff our many departments.  We provide public safety, public works, community and economic development, parks & recreation, and many other important public services to a growing community. </p> <p>The Position</p> <p>The City of Maple Grove is actively seeking volunteers interested in assisting the police department while giving back to the community. Police reserve officers will perform a variety of activities to include special events, emergencies or disasters within the City of Maple Grove.  Additionally, this program is a great experience for a student looking for non-law enforcement hands on involvement. </p> <p>Interviews conducted as applications are received - apply immediately</p> <ul> <li> <p>Assists with special events, celebrations and activities.</p> </li><li> <p>Available for assisting with emergencies and disasters.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists neighboring departments with celebration activities and events.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists the Maple Grove school district with events.</p> </li><li> <p>Work sporting events and park and recreation activities.</p> </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Must be at least 18 years of age or older. </li><li>Must pass background screen </li><li>Must be a U.S. Citizen </li></ul> <p>BENEFITS OF BECOMING A RESERVE OFFICER:</p> <ul> <li>Assist the Police Department work closely with citizens through community oriented policing.  </li><li>Help the Police Department work closely with citizens through Receive first aid (First Responder) training. </li><li>Attend a 7-week reserve school offered through the Hennepin County Sheriff's Department.  </li><li>Monthly meetings offering training opportunities.  </li><li>Learn about state laws which leads to a greater understanding of the complexities of law enforcement. </li><li>Receive water safety, traffic direction, and search and rescue training though the Reserve Officer Training Association. </li></ul>
