<p>The Journeyman Electrician installs, maintains, and repairs electrical systems and specialized low-voltage security systems including access control, CCTV, and fire/life-safety systems. The role supports construction and project management activities, procurement, and safety within Facilities Management. </p> <p>Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 a.m.-3:30 p.m.</p> <p>This section reflects management's assignment of essential functions and does not restrict additional tasks that may be assigned.</p> <p>Electrical Systems</p> <ul> <li>Install, maintain, and repair electrical components and systems. </li><li>Perform diagnostics and repairs on MEP-related systems (motor starters, VFDs, building automation sensors, occupancy relays, interlocks, etc). </li><li>Read and interpret electrical diagrams, schematics, and technical documentation. </li><li>Troubleshoot, repair, and replace mechanical and electrical components. </li><li>Conduct inspections using diagnostic equipment to evaluate performance and safety. </li></ul> <p> </p> <p>Security & Low-Voltage Systems</p> <ul> <li>Install, maintain, repair, and/or replace security system components (access control devices, surveillance cameras, fire/life-safety devices, etc). </li><li>Diagnose and troubleshoot security hardware issues. </li><li>Collaborate with County Security Staff on door schedules, key-card management, and system troubleshooting. </li><li>Maintain electrical locks, door hardware, and perform security-related inspections. </li><li>Assist IT with UPS troubleshooting and related electrical tasks. </li></ul> <p> </p> <p>Project & Construction Support</p> <ul> <li>Support construction management for electrical and low-voltage installations, replacements, and repairs. </li><li>Assist with coordinating small projects, including contractor oversight. </li><li>Manage small-project life cycles and assigned operational budget line items. </li><li>Provide technical oversight of security assets and capital electrical systems. </li><li>Assist with energy-related grant documentation. </li></ul> <p> </p> <p>Maintenance & Operations</p> <ul> <li>Document preventative and corrective maintenance in the CMMS. </li><li>Enter and manage work orders and service requests. </li><li>Support maintenance staff with procedures, technical guidance, and safe work practices. </li><li>Follow maintenance schedules and foreman instructions. </li><li>Participate in winter operations, including snow and ice removal at County facilities. </li></ul> <p> </p> <p>General Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Maintain clean and orderly work areas; properly store tools and equipment. </li><li>Follow safety protocols when handling tools, equipment, and heavy items. </li><li>Communicate effectively with leadership regarding building issues and requests. </li><li>Participate in training and on-the-job learning. </li><li>Support countywide safety and risk-management efforts. </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma or equivalent required. </li><li>Completion of a state-approved electrical apprenticeship program. </li><li>Four to five years of progressive industrial electrical and low-voltage experience. </li></ul> <p> </p> <p>Licenses and Certifications</p> <ul> <li>Valid driver's license. </li><li>Wisconsin Journeyman Electrician license required upon hire. </li><li>Steel-toe shoes required; annual stipend provided. </li></ul> <p> </p> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical manuals, and related documentation. </li><li>Working knowledge of access control, CCTV, and fire alarm systems, with willingness to attend advanced training. </li><li>Experience with low-voltage cabling and components related to network, automation, and security systems. </li><li>Strong proficiency in electrical theory, troubleshooting, and use of diagnostic tools. </li><li>Thorough understanding of the National Electrical Code (NEC) and all relevant safety regulations. </li><li>Ability to use computers and mobile devices for CMMS, equipment control, and documentation. </li><li>Effective communication and problem-solving skills. </li></ul> <p> </p> <p>Interaction & Communication</p> <p>Responds to requests and initiates contact to exchange general information with internal and external stakeholders.</p> <p> </p> <p>Thinking & Problem-Solving</p> <p>Work involves routine challenges related to established procedures and county policies. Independent judgment is exercised within defined practices, with additional research and observation supporting decision-making.</p> <p> </p> <p>Work Environment</p> <p>Work regularly involves exposure to:</p> <ul> <li>Wet or humid conditions </li><li>Moving mechanical parts </li><li>High or elevated locations </li><li>Fumes, airborne particles, and chemicals </li><li>Outdoor weather including extreme cold and heat </li><li>Risk of electrical shock and hazardous materials </li></ul> <p>Noise levels are typically loud.</p> <p> </p> <p>Physical Demands</p> <ul> <li>Frequent standing, walking, sitting, climbing, handling objects, reaching, balancing, bending, kneeling, crouching, crawling, talking, and hearing. </li><li>Occasional tasting/smelling as part of diagnostic tasks. </li><li>Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs independently (more with assistance). </li><li>Must maintain vision abilities including close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus adjustment. </li></ul> <p>TO INCLUDE:</p> <p>Formal Walworth County Electronic Application</p> <p>Review of Education & Experience</p> <p>Verification of Driver's License</p> <p>Oral Department Interview</p> <p>Reference Check</p> <p>Background Check</p> <p>Post Offer Physical Exam</p> <p>Drug Screen</p> <p>Other job-related tests may be required.</p>
