<p>Job Description:</p> <p>The following position is available for the 2025-2026 school year: Part-time Reading Acceleration Specialist</p> <p>Date Posted: 7/23/2025</p> <p>Location: Prendergast School (K-5)</p> <p>Date Available: Immediately</p> <p>Closing Date: Open until filled</p> <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provide targeted small group reading instruction to students at all reading levels, with a focus on acceleration and reading goal attainment. </li><li>Use a variety of instructional strategies and resources aligned with students' individual reading levels and needs. </li><li>Collaborate regularly with classroom teachers to align instructional practices, support classroom goals, and inform student progress. </li><li>Design and adapt lessons and materials that are differentiated to meet diverse learner needs. </li><li>Track and document student performance and progress using the district's data management systems (e.g., SchoolPace, DIBELS). </li><li>Participate in data meetings and instructional planning sessions to discuss student progress and determine next steps. </li><li>Maintain clear, accurate, and confidential records. </li><li>Communicate effectively with teachers, administrators, and support staff to ensure a cohesive approach to reading instruction. </li><li>Engage in ongoing professional development related to literacy instruction, assessment, and instructional strategies. </li><li>Support and model a culture of literacy throughout the school building. </li><li>Instructs reading programs with fidelity </li><li>Any additional responsibilities assigned by supervisor. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Required certification: CT Elementary teaching certification (013, 305) </li><li>Successful teaching experience in an urban setting preferred </li><li>Strong understanding of literacy development, evidence-based reading practices, and data analysis </li><li>Ability to collaborate effectively with a team of educators and work independently when necessary </li><li>Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills </li></ul> <p>Additional Information:</p> <ul> <li>$25 an hour </li><li>Maximum of 29.5 hours a week </li><li>There are no benefits associated with this position </li><li>Grant funded, non-union position </li></ul> <p>Ansonia is an EOE.</p> <p>To apply go to: www.applitrack.com/ansonia</p>
