<p>Special Projects and Events Manager</p> <p>POSITION DETAILS</p> <p>Lehman College, of The City University of New York, ranks among the top five institutions in the nation for fostering social mobility. A four-year Hispanic-Serving Institution in the Bronx, Lehman offers bachelor's, master's, and advanced degrees and certificate programs in the Liberal Arts, sciences, and professions. The College's community-driven mission and notable academic programs attract a diverse, international enrollment of over 15,000 students who take courses on its 37-acre, tree-lined campus and online degree programs. Many thousands more community members benefit yearly from its active cultural, educational, health, and economic outreach programs and services.</p> <p>Reporting to the President's Office Chief of Staff, the Special Projects and Events Manager will oversee College initiatives and events within the President's Office. This proactive individual will excel in project management and event coordination, provide exceptional organizational and administrative support, and communicate effectively across campus and to external stakeholders. Core responsibilities include:</p> <p>Project Management</p> <ul> <li>Develop and implement project plans for initiatives, ensuring timeliness, meeting milestones, and adhering to resource allocation. </li><li>Collaborate with College and external stakeholders to achieve project objectives efficiently. </li><li>Prepare regular progress reports and presentations for the President and other stakeholders. </li><li>Serve as a trusted advisor to the Chief of Staff and the President on sensitive matters and strategic initiatives. </li></ul> <p>Event Coordination</p> <ul> <li>Organize, manage and coordinate ceremonies, celebrations, receptions, activities and similar events as directed by and on behalf of the President's Office. </li><li>Assist in developing, planning, organizing, and executing special events while adhering to institutional guidelines, policies, and procedures. </li><li>Schedule meetings, coordinate large mailings, and maintain effective communication with college administrators, faculty, and external stakeholders. </li><li>Research and evaluate each event's success, submitting detailed reports to the President's Chief of Staff. </li><li>Collaborate with various departments, including Communications and Marketing, to create promotional materials and ensure successful event execution </li><li>Manage communication flow between the office and both internal and external stakeholders. </li></ul> <p>Team Collaboration</p> <ul> <li>Lead cross-departmental projects and represent the President's Office in campus-wide committees and task forces. </li><li>Coordinate with College Departments involved with event set-up. </li><li>Actively participate in team meetings and share best practices to drive organizational success. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Bachelor's degree and six years' related experience required.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Master's degree in a relevant field or advanced degree. </li><li>Experience in project management and event planning, preferably in an educational or nonprofit setting. </li><li>Strong organizational and time management skills. </li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills. </li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and project management tools. </li><li>Ability to handle confidential information with integrity. </li><li>Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities. </li><li>Strong interpersonal skills and ability to lift up to 40 lbs. </li><li>Experience with planning and executing special events in a university setting. </li><li>Ability to work outside of normal business hours, including evenings and weekends. </li></ul> <p>This position is excluded from union representation.</p> <p>CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW</p> <p>Supports a Campus or University Executive as a confidential assistant in a variety of activities and initiatives as a key team member.</p> <ul> <li>Organizes and manages projects involving different areas of the Campus or University community, with responsibility for project outcomes </li><li>Represents the Executive's unit in Campus or University-wide activities, including committees, special initiatives, and implementation of new processes or technology </li><li>Independently carries out a portfolio of responsibilities under the Executive's purview, such as approvals, student interactions, and monitoring of key activities </li><li>Manages communications within and outside the unit related to areas of responsibility </li><li>May serve as Manager of a large Executive Office </li><li>Performs related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>This position is excluded from union representation.</p> <p>CUNY TITLE</p> <p>Higher Education Associate</p> <p>FLSA</p> <p>Exempt</p> <p>COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS</p> <p>$79,188 - $82,928 . Salary commensurate with education and experience.</p> <p>CUNY is in the process of implementing salary schedule increases. Once implemented, salaries of eligible employees will be adjusted by 6.09% with additional increases of 3.25% effective 9/1/2025 and 3.5% effective 9/1/26, in accordance with the terms of the PSC-CUNY collective bargaining agreement.</p> <p>CUNY's benefits contribute significantly to total compensation, supporting health and wellness, financial well-being, and professional development.
