<p>Performs work planning and supervising the operations, program development and delivery of Fitness & Wellness services at the Green Ridge Recreation Center. Responsible for opening/closing the facility during scheduled shifts. Reports directly to the Recreation Program Supervisor. Performs related duties as assigned.</p> <p>Shift Hours and/or Days Worked: M-Th 4:00pm-8:15pm, possibility of weekends, mornings, days, and holidays</p> <p>Hours Required for this position: 20-25 hours per week~ Provides an approachable, enthusiastic presence throughout the facility to support a positive, customer-focused atmosphere.</p> <p>~ Interact spontaneously with members, guests, and center staff at any given time in the facility to model a personal and inviting atmosphere for the facility.</p> <p>~ Assists with the planning, scheduling, and delivery of wellness programs and group exercise classes.</p> <p>~ Serves as the primary point of contact for Personal Trainers, Facility Attendants and Fitness Instructors regarding schedules, training, and support.</p> <p>~ Ensure proper coverage and instructor availability for all scheduled classes. Fills in as a class instructor as needed.</p> <p>~ Responsible for opening or closing the facility as scheduled.</p> <p>~ Reports any facility issues or concerns to the Manager on Duty (MOD) or Center Manager.</p> <p>~ Help coordinate staff coverage and workflow.</p> <p>~ Provide on-site support to instructors and trainers, helping with attendance tracking, class setup, and program/class needs.</p> <p>~ Assists the Recreation Program Supervisor to recruit, train, schedule, supervise, and evaluate part-time Fitness and Wellness Instructors and Personal Trainers.</p> <p>~ Assists with equipment inspections, cleaning, and maintenance to ensure functionality and safety.</p> <p>~ Contributes to the development of program safety standards and operational procedures.</p> <p>~ Helps develop and maintain training manuals and instructor guides.</p> <p>~ Monitors trends in the fitness and wellness industry to keep programming current and effective.</p> <p>~ Creates and distributes regular communications to promote fitness and wellness programs and engage customers.</p> <p>~ Maintains a diverse schedule of classes that meet the needs of a wide variety of fitness levels.</p> <p>~ Collaborate with other personnel and attend staff meetings.</p> <p>~ Assists in evaluating program effectiveness and customer satisfaction using data, feedback, and performance metrics.Education:</p> <p>Required: High School Diploma</p> <p>Preferred: Two- or Four-year degree in Exercise Science or closely related field.</p> <p>Experience:</p> <p>Required: One (1) year experience working in a Fitness/Wellness Center, Personal Training, and/or teaching/instructing group exercise classes.</p> <p>Preferred: Two (2) or more years of experience working and supervising staff in a Fitness/Wellness Center, Personal Training, and/or teaching/instructing classes or supervising a group exercise program.</p> <p>Certifications/Licenses:</p> <p>Required: CPR, First Aid, and AED Certification (or ability to obtain within 60 days of hire).</p> <p>Preferred: One or more certifications from National Fitness Organizations in Health, Fitness, or group exercise programming and instruction.</p> <p>Preferred agencies include American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM), National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA), National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM), American Council on Exercise (ACE), American Academy of Health, Fitness, and Rehab Professionals (AAHFRP.)</p> <p>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:</p> <p>Strong working knowledge of exercise science principles, fitness testing, and group exercise programming.</p> <p>Familiarity with a wide variety of fitness equipment and safe usage techniques.</p> <p>Ability to design and adapt programs for participants with varying needs and abilities.</p> <p>Ability to plan, schedule, and coordinate land- and aquatic-based group exercise classes.</p> <p>Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a customer-first mindset.</p> <p>Strong leadership, supervision, and team-building skills.</p> <p>Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other tools used for scheduling, communication, and reporting.</p> <p>Skilled in decision-making, budgeting, multi-tasking, and operational planning.</p> <p>Ability to identify safety concerns and manage risk within fitness and wellness environments.</p> <p>Supervisory Responsibilities:</p> <p>Supervision of Personal Trainers, Fitness Instructors and Facility Attendants. Direct supervision of part-time Fitness Instructors and Personal Trainers.</p> <p>Additional Requirements:</p> <p>Must be willing to work a ?exible schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays. Subject to a complete criminal history and Child Protective Services background search with acceptable results. Must be able to perform the job as described in the Physical and Environmental Demands section of this job description. Must be dependable and punctual, with the ability to complete opening and/or closing duties independently and communicate issues to supervisory staff.</p>
