Afinitas is part of BW Forsyth Partners, LLC, the investment group of global manufacturing and engineering consulting firm Barry-Wehmiller, a $3 billion organization with nearly 12,000 team members, united by a common belief: to use the power of business to build a better world.</p> <p>Job Description:</p> <p>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBLITIES</p> <ul> <li>Lead the multi-site Forming Systems Division engineering department. </li><li>Participate in development of standard engineering design standards/best practices and ensure consistent implementation through wet cast product lines </li><li>Provide design oversight to minimize product liability exposure. </li><li>Develop and provide directions for on time schedules for engineering department. </li><li>Ensure timely and effective communication with all functional areas is provided to avoid work stoppages, rework, delayed shipments or redundancy of efforts. </li><li>Provide engineering support to all departments, ensuring partnership in troubleshooting issues and identifying solutions. For example, supporting sales with technical specifications for special projects or engineering time estimates. </li><li>Partner with cross functional teams and leaders to drive continuous improvement across the division. </li><li>Coordinate specifications and delivery requirements for key purchased parts components. </li><li>Monitor daily/weekly engineering progress and relay pertinent information to Operations leaders. </li><li>Establish thoughtful resource plans to ensure the engineering department is staffed to support the business; when necessary, hire and train new team members. </li><li>Provide coaching, mentorship, and performance feedback to each member of the Engineering team. </li><li>Evaluate product cost reduction measures and implement design changes. </li><li>Use AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MS Word, and MS Excel software effectively. </li><li>Travel to other team locations to assure alignment and team cohesion </li><li>Travel to customer sites for customer visits and warranty issues as they arise. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li> <p>Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering required</p> </li><li> <p>Applicable industry experience of 10 or more years required</p> </li><li> <p>Minimum of 3 years direct leadership experience required</p> </li><li> <p>Thorough understanding of:</p> </li><li> <p>Drafting standards, dimensioning, and tolerances</p> </li><li> <p>Mechanical power relationships, such as, horsepower, torque, and speed</p> </li><li> <p>Strength of materials and structural analysis</p> </li><li> <p>Manufacturing processes</p> </li><li> <p>Training and/or experience in using AutoCAD or similar CAD software</p> </li><li> <p>Training and/or experience in using SolidWorks or similar 3-D modeling software</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent communication skills, both written and oral</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent organizational and time management skills</p> </li><li> <p>Strong attention to detail</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously, adapt to shifting priorities</p> </li></ul> <p>#LI-CW1</p> <p>At Barry-Wehmiller we recognize that people come with a wealth of experience and talent beyond just the technical requirements of a job.
