<p>Position Purpose/Summary</p> <p>Responsible creating a strategic plan that will implement strategies devoted to improve conditions that negatively impact communities of color and work to eradicate racial and social injustices to attain health equity across all residents of Springfield. Efforts of this position will lead to the equalization of conditions for groups that have experienced socioeconomic disadvantages or historical injustices. Work is performed under the supervision of the Commissioner of Health and Human Services. Supervision is exercised over other employees.</p> <p>Essential Functions</p> <ul> <li>Draft a strategic plan to address systemic racism within the City of Springfield, taking note of departments, agencies and organizations to prioritize and including key strategies to work towards achieving a healthier Springfield. </li><li>Coordinate and provide support to find and strengthen practices that promote racial justice and health equity. </li><li>Develop and strengthen partnerships between Springfield DHHS and other municipal departments including but not limited to Springfield Public Schools, Springfield Police Department, and Springfield Fire Department. </li><li>Coordinate with local providers and community based organizations to develop a cohesive network of health equity and racial justice program/ resources/ opportunities in the city. </li><li>Ensure the use of a racial justice and health equity lens in all programming and efforts carried out by the Office. </li><li>Research current and relevant culturally appropriate practices that are evidence-based to advance health equity and racial justice. </li><li>Work with the Office of Health Equity at the Massachusetts Department of Public and the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer at the City of Springfield to collaborate around health equity or racial justice training initiatives for the residents in the city. </li><li>Develop data tools and information for residents could to use to enhance their advocacy around health equity and racial justice needs in the city. </li><li>Perform other duties as required. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Knowledge of public health policies and practices. </li><li>Exceptional organizational skills. </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills. </li><li>Ability to be flexible and meet deadlines. </li><li>Experience working with racially and culturally diverse populations. </li><li>Proficient in Microsoft Suite, WordPress and MailChimp. </li><li>Strong organizational and time management skills. </li><li>High level of detention to detail. </li><li>Ability to multitask and prioritize. </li><li>Ability to establish and maintain good relationships with others. </li></ul> <p>Education and Experience</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's Degree in Public Health, Public Policy Administration or a related field required. </li><li>Master's degree preferred. </li><li>Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of relevant work experience. </li><li>Experience presenting to large crowds and facilitation discussions related to social justice issues. </li></ul>
