<p>This Medical Instrument Technician Echocardiology position is located at the West Roxbury, MA campus for the VA Boston Healthcare System in the Specialty Care Service. This position is full time at 40 hours per week.</p> <p>Medical Instrument Technicians for Echocardiography at the GS-9 is above full performance level. The incumbent responsible for performing echocardiography exams which range from the routine to the complex in all echocardiography modalities. Responsibilities also include varied administrative duties, staff development and supervisory functions which may require problem solving, communication and writing skills, as well as knowledge of regulatory and industry compliance and accreditation issues.</p> <p>Duties for the position include but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Perform real time 3-dimensional cardiac ultrasound using on-line and off- line computer enhancement and reconstruction technology, 3-dimensional Q-Lab analysis, and 3D cropping tools. </li><li>Provide training and supervision to students in cutting-edge modalities. </li><li>Perform basic echocardiograms as well as complex procedures such s stress exercise and dobutamine echocardiograms, saline contrast studies, contrast echocardiography, research protocols, valve cases and assist with transesophageal echocardiograms as needed. </li><li>Adhere to all lab protocols and adjust the scanning procedures to the specific pathology as it presents itself. </li><li>Set up and maintain the echocardiography laboratory's transesophageal equipment. </li><li>Assist the supervisor in writing lab and scanning procedures, protocols and policies for Quality Assurance and IAC accreditation. </li><li>Assist with special projects and datable operations. </li><li>Assist in managing and maintaining IAC accreditation for the Echo Lab. </li><li>Compile QA data, and on an ongoing basis present finding to Medical and Technical Directors. </li><li>Act as the lab liaison between IAC and the echo lab to ensure all required documents are submitted. </li><li>Assist in creating ideas to better manage workflow and organization of the laboratory via project management plans. </li><li>Liaison to triage equipment problems and communication with other departments to correct malfunctions. </li></ul> <p>Work Schedule: Full Time, Monday - Friday 8:30am - 5pm</p> <p>Compressed/Flexible: Not Authorized</p> <p>Telework: Not Available</p> <p>Virtual: This is not a virtual position.</p> <p>Functional Statement #: 523-F03633</p> <p>Recruitment Incentives/Sign On Bonus: May be authorized for highly qualified applicants.</p> <p>Relocation: May be authorized for highly qualified applicants</p> <p>Financial Disclosure Report: Not Required</p> <p>Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not Authorized</p> <p>PCS Appraised Value Offer (AVO): Not Authorized</p> <p>Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases. When setting pay, a higher step rate of the appropriate grade may be determined after consideration of higher or unique qualifications or special needs of the VA (Above Minimum Rate of the Grade).</p> <p>Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)</p> <p>Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.</p> <p>Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.</p> <p>Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA</p> <p>Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)</p> <p>NOTIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>This position is not a Bargaining Unit position. </li><li>Due to critical staffing shortage, U.S.C. 7412 waives the requirement to apply Veteran's preference for this job announcement. </li><li>Position is covered by a special rate. </li><li>This position is in the Excepted Service. </li><li>The incumbent may be required to travel to other Boston VA campuses and CBOC's. </li><li>Current and former Federal employees may be required to submit copies of their most recent SF-50, (Notice of Personnel Action). The SF-50 must identify the position title, series, grade, step, tenure and type of service (Competitive or Excepted).
