<p>Stamford Health is hiring a Fulltime OR RN for the Tully Health Center OR!</p> <p>The schedule and hours for the position will be Monday through Friday, 7am-3:30pm and 8:30am-5pm!</p> <p>As a Certified Great Place to Work organization, Stamford Health understands what it takes to attract talent to improve our workforce and support our mission, to that end we offer:</p> <ul> <li>Competitive salary </li><li>Comprehensive, low-cost health insurance plans available day one </li><li>Wellness programs </li><li>Paid Time Off accruals </li><li>Tax deferred annuity and (403b) pension plan </li><li>Tuition reimbursement </li><li>Free on-site parking and train station shuttle </li><li>Childcare partnership with Children's Learning Center </li></ul> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <p>A clinically competent, registered, professional nurse who assumes responsibility and accountability for the preoperative and phase II post anesthesia patient and their families in collaboration with all other members of the health care team through the nursing process and in conjunction with the policies and procedures of Stamford Health System.</p> <ul> <li>Respects and protects the patient's rights to confidentiality and privacy and discloses information only for professional purposes which are in the patient's best interests with full consideration of their legal rights. </li><li>Provides safe patient care by verifying patient identification and assuring the presence of the necessary documents, laboratory tests, consents, equipment, and radiology images. </li><li>Delivers patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, implementation and evaluation. </li><li>Practices the 5 Rights to patient safety when administering medications, blood or blood products and treatments. (right patient, right medication, right route, right dose, right time) </li><li>Applies basic knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, microbiology and pharmacology for optimal surgical patient care. </li><li>Demonstrates competency in IV insertion and discontinuation of same. </li><li>Active participant in the "TIME OUT" prior to a peripheral nerve block. </li><li>Maintains patent airway, including adult and pediatric patients. </li><li>Manages monitoring and respiratory equipment, fluid lines, tubes, drains and catheters. </li><li>Functions in a supporting role as a secondary RN in PACU as needed, including call coverage. </li><li>Formulate appropriate teaching plan based on patient age, understanding level, etc. </li><li>Address patient/family/responsible adult questions and assess understanding of education </li><li>Evaluates patient's readiness for discharge from unit and hospital. </li><li>Comply with established personal protective equipment requirements necessary for protection against exposure to blood and other potentially infectious body fluids, chemical disinfectants and other hazardous substances. </li><li>Uses good nursing judgment in determining appropriate nursing action and exhibits control in emergency situations. </li><li>Documents pertinent information, observations and all aspects of patient care clearly, concisely and in a timely manner. </li><li>Assists with the development and clinical precepting of students and new employees. </li><li>Maintains equipment and utilizes supplies in a safe, cost effective manner. </li><li>Complies with hospital attendance policy and department staffing policy and rotations. </li><li>Adheres to hospital and department specific dress code policy. </li><li>Complies with hospital and departmental policies and procedures and adheres to external agency requirements </li><li>Completes required continuous training and education, including department specific requirements. </li><li>Takes responsibility for own professional development. </li><li>Communicates and collaborates effectively with all members of the health care team and related departments to provide accurate information about the perioperative care of the patients. </li><li>Displays a positive attitude and works to achieve an environment of respect, accountability, teamwork, integrity, and compassion. Does not support or take part in disruptive or negative behavior. </li><li>Formulates and maintains effective working relationships with peer, managers and other team members. </li><li>Participates in the development and implementation of goals, objectives, policies and procedures and standards of care, which contribute to the achievement of the organization's strategic plan. </li><li>Cross trains and rotates to other clinical areas in Perioperative Services as needed. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.</p> </li><li> <p>Valid license as Registered Nurse in Connecticut.</p> </li><li> <p>BLS/ ACLS certification required</p> </li><li> <p>PALS certification withing the first year of hire</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to communicate effectively with patients, their family members, surgical center staff, physicians and other health care workers.
