<p>As a member of the Abuse Functional Safety group, you will be at the forefront of ensuring the safety of Tesla's products across Vehicles, Energy Products, and Robotics. Our team is responsible for simulating extreme real-world scenarios to inform the design of our products, with the goal of leading the industry in handling these conditions.</p> <p>We're seeking an experienced Engineer to join our team, where you'll investigate complex technical issues, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and inform design decisions to ensure the safety and robustness of Tesla's products.</p> <ul> <li> <p>Study the properties of electrical failures in battery packs and conduct root cause analysis, including scenarios such as short circuit events, and saltwater in high voltage systems</p> </li><li> <p>Develop and validate mitigations to identified issues and coordinate interdisciplinary product improvement implementations</p> </li><li> <p>Create experiments to push electrical systems to their limits</p> </li><li> <p>Develop internal standards and processes to continue to improve the safety of our products</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate in the design and manufacturing of future products</p> </li><li> <p>Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent experience</p> </li><li> <p>Fundamentals in electrical and thermal properties</p> </li><li> <p>2+ years of experience in physically applied-engineering</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to interact across a variety of groups collaboratively</p> </li><li> <p>Practical, hands-on, can-do attitude</p> </li><li> <p>Failure analysis experience a plus</p> </li><li> <p>Lithium ion/automotive/grid scale energy storage experience a plus</p> </li><li> <p>Approximately 5% expected travel</p> </li></ul>
