<p>Academic Program Specialist</p> <p>POSITION DETAILS</p> <p>The Division of Continuing Education and Workforce Development (CEWD) at Hostos Community College of The City University of New York is seeking a Coordinator for the College Transition & Alternative Credit Programs to oversee efforts to transition CEWD students from certificate programs into degree programs at Hostos Community College and to facilitate the implementation of CUNY's credit for prior learning policy at Hostos.</p> <p>CEWD oversees occupational training programs in a variety of sectors, grant- and contract- funded workforce development initiatives, and adult basic education. CEWD's Center for Bronx Nonprofits provides local nonprofits with professional development.</p> <p>Reporting to the Executive Director of Workforce Development, the Coordinator of College Transition & Alternative Credit Programs will manage daily operations and provide programmatic and operational support, including data collection. The Coordinator will also be responsible for organizing and supporting outreach, recruitment and registration of the program's students. They will also facilitate the program's College Transition Seminar and provide individual and/or group advisement to students. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:</p> <ul> <li>Conduct comprehensive individual and group student orientations, information sessions and interviews. </li><li>Provide academic and college success advice, general guidance, coaching, mentoring and career exploration support for groups and individuals in the program. </li><li>Monitor, evaluate, document, and report on students' academic participation and progress, ensure compliance with guidelines, and manage records and files, using online student service management platforms such as Succeed@Hostos and CUNYFirst to track enrollment and academic progress. </li><li>Coordinate with Transfer Credit Evaluator to ensure that eligible students are granted credit for prior learning (CPL) using the methods approved by the CUNY CPL policy. </li><li>Coordinate regular team meetings with faculty, academic and administrative staff, and actively participate in campus and University meetings and training activities; including leading committee meetings on CPL and efforts to align non-matriculation and matriculation programs. </li><li>May supervise and train full- and part-time professionals, Instructors, and/or office support staff; including recruiting and coordinating the hiring of faculty consultants for credit alignment projects. </li><li>Connect students to college programs and resources. </li><li>Help students navigate college application process and coordinate their matriculation to college. </li><li>Review non-matriculation (CEWD) curriculum, recommend curriculum enhancements to align with degree programs, and coordinate periodic updating of credit articulation agreements between OAA and CEWD, or other institutions. </li><li>Assist in writing and collecting data for grants related to college transition and/or credit for prior learning efforts. </li><li>Additional duties as assigned; essential duties require on-campus presence/in-person work. </li><li>This is a temporary position up to two years subject to budget availability. </li></ul> <p>QUALIFICATIONS</p> <p>Bachelor's Degree and four years' relevant experience required.</p> <p>The following qualifications are preferred:</p> <ul> <li>Four (4) years of full-time work experience in teaching, counseling, case management, student advisement or a related field desired </li><li>Experience working with diverse, urban populations, particularly in a higher education setting </li><li>Teaching background in adult education and/or developmental skills </li><li>Experience with program coordination and/or management </li><li>Experience with college admissions process and prior learning assessment and/or transfer credit evaluation. </li><li>Able to use a holistic, strengths-based approach to student development </li><li>Organized, detail-oriented and possess excellent written and verbal communication skills </li><li>Able to take initiative, work independently, and receive and incorporate feedback quickly </li><li>Able to balance advisement and administrative responsibilities </li><li>Demonstrated work experience in college transition environments a plus </li><li>Knowledge of the CUNY admissions process and developmental education requirements, and </li><li>Availability to work evening/weekend hours when required </li></ul> <p>CUNY TITLE OVERVIEW</p> <p>Participates in the daily coordination of academic and administrative activities of a College's specialized academic program under management direction.</p> <ul> <li>Supports program development, student service delivery, outcome evaluation and instructor/student recruitment, enrollment, and retention. </li><li>Recommends, implements and evaluates strategies to expand program offerings </li><li>Prepares analytical and statistical reports for management </li><li>Develops and maintains relationships with various College offices to improve student and faculty services </li><li>Serves as resource expert regarding program policies and procedures </li><li>Oversees office recordkeeping; manages updates of program web and print materials </li><li>May supervise office operations and/or department budget </li><li>Performs related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Job Title Name: Academic Program Specialist</p> <p>CUNY TITLE</p> <p>Higher Education Assistant</p> <p>FLSA</p> <p>Exempt</p> <p>COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS</p> <p>$75,465 - $86,645; Salary commensurate with education and experience.</p> <p>CUNY's benefits contribute significantly to total compensation, supporting health and wellness, financial well-being, and professional development.
