<p>The OKC VA Healthcare System, Nursing Service, is currently recruiting for Medical Supply Technician (Sterile Processing).</p> <p>This is an open continuous announcement. Applications will be accepted on an ongoing basis; Applicants will be referred on a continual basis until all vacancies are filled OR until the closing date of this announcement.</p> <p>Total Rewards of a Allied Health Professional</p> <p>Major Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <p>GS-03 - Entry Level</p> <p>This is an entry level position in Sterile Processing Service as a Medical Supply Technician (Sterile Processing Technician). In this position, the incumbent will provide sterilization, preparation, supply items and reusable medical equipment decontamination and distribution support for the medical center. The term "supply item" as used refers to disposable and reusable items for patient care including instrumentation (scissors, forceps, retractors, etc.) reusable medical equipment (suction machines infusion pumps, etc.), surgical trays and sets and various other items that could be processed or assembled through the Preparation and Decontamination areas of Sterile Processing Service</p> <p>GS-04 - Developmental Level</p> <p>This is a developmental level position in Sterile Processing Service as a Medical Supply Technician (Sterile Processing Technician). In this position, the incumbent will provide sterilization, preparation, supply items and reusable medical equipment decontamination and distribution support for the medical center. The term "supply item" as used refers to disposable and reusable items for patient care including instrumentation (scissors, forceps, retractors, etc.) reusable medical equipment (suction machines infusion pumps, etc.), surgical trays and sets and various other items that could be processed or assembled through the Preparation and Decontamination areas of Sterile Processing Service</p> <p>GS-06 - Full Performance Level</p> <p>This is the full performance level for the occupation. Receives contaminated critical and semi-critical reusable medical equipment (RME) in the decontamination area and may receive noncritical equipment as well. Disassembles the RME and determines the correct cleaning method, such as, but not limited to, ultrasonic cleaners, mechanical washers/disinfectors, cart washers and chemical cleaning/decontamination agents, as determined by manufacturer instructions. Inspects, assembles and determines the correct method and packaging for sterilization, such as, but not limited to steam, Sterrad, Steris, and high-level disinfecting scope reprocessors. Performs and documents daily operational checks and records for all processes and equipment. Other Duties as Assigned</p> <p>Work Schedule: 3:30pm - 12:00am or 11:30pm - 8:00am, rotating days with alternating weekend and holiday coverage</p> <p>Recruitment Incentive (Sign-on Bonus): Not Authorized</p> <p>Permanent Change of Station (Relocation Assistance): Not Authorized</p> <p>Pay: Competitive salary and regular salary increases.</p> <p>Paid Time Off: 37-50 days of annual paid time offer per year (13-26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays per year)</p> <p>Parental Leave: After 12 months of employment, up to 12 weeks of paid parental leave in connection with the birth, adoption, or foster care placement of a child.</p> <p>Child Care Subsidy: After 60 days of employment, full time employees with a total family income below $144,000 may be eligible for a childcare subsidy up to 25% of total eligible childcare costs for eligible children up to the monthly maximum of $416.66.</p> <p>Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and federal 401K with up to 5% in contributions by VA</p> <p>Insurance: Federal health/vision/dental/term life/long-term care (many federal insurance programs can be carried into retirement)</p> <p>Telework: Not Available</p> <p>Virtual: This is not a virtual position.</p> <p>Functional Statement #: 51526-A, 51527-A, 51528-A, 51529-A</p> <p>Permanent Change of Station (PCS): Not authorized</p>
