<p>Job Details</p> <p>(Subject to Funding Availability)</p> <p>Positions:</p> <p>Committee on Special Education (CSE) Preschool Assessment Center (PRAC) Social Workers</p> <p>(Number of positions to be determined)</p> <p>Location:</p> <p>CSEs citywide, location TBD; travel required</p> <p>Eligibility:</p> <p>Currently Appointed NYCPS School Social Worker OR New York State Certification in</p> <p>Social Work</p> <p>Term:</p> <p>Three years</p> <p>Selection Criteria:</p> <p>(Preference will be given to the following):</p> <ul> <li>New York State Certification in School Social Work </li><li>Experience in conducting social histories </li><li>Knowledge of developmental milestones for early childhood students </li><li>Ability to communicate effectively with parents, agencies and school personnel </li><li>Knowledge of the pre-school continuum of services, regulations of the NYSED Commissioner, regulations of the NYCPS Chancellor </li><li>Knowledge of due process rights </li></ul> <p>After interviewing applicants that meet the selection criteria above, the following applicants will be considered:</p> <ul> <li>Regularly appointed and tenured </li><li>Regularly appointed and not tenured </li><li>New applicants to the New York City Public Schools </li></ul> <p>Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Review requests for referrals </li><li>Travel to various locations where meetings and evaluations are held </li><li>Assist parents with transition from Early Intervention </li><li>Conduct Social Histories and classroom observations </li><li>Conduct formal and informal assessments at various CPSE/CSE, non-public, parochial, charter or public schools, children's homes and agencies and prepare written reports </li><li>Provide consultation on all matters relating to social and emotional competencies of children referred for evaluation and/or receiving services to CPSE/CSE, non-public, parochial, charter or public-school staff, families and other agencies </li><li>Develop IEPs </li><li>Participate in CPSE/CSE reviews at various CPSE/CSE, non-public, parochial, charter or public schools, children's homes and agencies </li><li>Coordinate CPSE/CSE activities with various NYCPS/NYC offices, non-public, parochial, charter or public schools, and other agencies. </li><li>Serve as a resource to CPSE/CSE, school staff, families, and agencies. </li><li>Participate in these activities at the CPSE/CSE, non-public, parochial, charter, public schools and/or other locations. </li><li>Represent the NYCPS at Due Process Hearings </li><li>Perform other program duties as assigned by the CSE Chairperson in accordance with the collective bargaining agreement, license, and past practice. </li></ul> <p>Salary:</p> <p>As per UFT collective bargaining agreement</p> <p>Work Hours:</p> <p>As per UFT collective bargaining agreement</p> <p>Application:</p> <p>Please email a cover letter and resume to the CSE location you wish to apply for with attention to the CSE Chairperson by MAY 13, 2026.</p> <ul> <li>CSE1@schools.nyc.gov </li><li>CSE2@schools.nyc.gov </li><li>CSE3@schools.nyc.gov </li><li>CSE4@schools.nyc.gov </li><li>CSE5@schools.nyc.gov </li><li>CSE6@schools.nyc.gov </li><li>CSE7@schools.nyc.gov </li><li>CSE8@schools.nyc.gov </li><li>CSE9@schools.nyc.gov </li><li>CSE10@schools.nyc.gov </li><li>CSE11@schools.nyc.gov </li></ul> <p>Please see relevant district information on the Committees on Special Education and Committees on Preschool Special Education page.</p> <p>If you have any questions about this posting, please e-mail Kesha Jones Ali at Kali7@schools.nyc.gov</p> <p>DOE Non-Discrimination Policy</p> <p>The Department of Education of the City of New York is an inclusive equal opportunity employer committed to recruiting and retaining a diverse workforce and providing a work environment that is free from discrimination and harassment upon any legally protected status or protected characteristic, including but not limited to an individual's actual or perceived sex, race, color, ethnicity, national origin, age, religion, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, veteran status, or pregnancy.
