<p>Secretary 1</p> <p>Student Health and Wellness</p> <p>Salary Range: $42,162 to $55,320 (Individuals new to state service start at the minimum of the pay plan)</p> <p>Link to Secretary 1 Specification: https://www.jobapscloud.com/CT/specs/classspecdisplay.asp?ClassNumber=6976CT&R1=&R3=</p> <p>JOB SUMMARY</p> <p>The University of Connecticut at Storrs, Student Health and Wellness, is seeking a permanent, 10-month Secretary I for the Business Services Team as part of a multidisciplinary, multicultural university campus-based medical team.</p> <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES</p> <p>Under the direction of the Office Manager, responsibilities include:</p> <ul> <li>Checks patients in for their appointments using an electronic health record. </li><li>Captures insurance and patient demographic information and enters it into the electronic health record to ensure data completeness. </li><li>Answers telephone, transfers calls, takes messages, and sends correspondence. </li><li>Receives and directs students and visitors; handles routine requests for information. </li><li>Schedules appointments as needed. </li><li>Assists Medical Records staff with sorting, filing and compiling documents as needed. </li><li>Maintains files and logs as needed. </li><li>Assists with special projects as needed. </li></ul> <p>MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Two years of experience above the routine clerk level in office support or secretarial work. </li><li>Oral, written and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Demonstrated experience with customer relations. </li><li>Organizational skills with attention to detail. </li><li>Demonstrated competence in working in an interdisciplinary and multicultural team environment. </li><li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite products (Word, Excel and Outlook). </li><li>Considerable knowledge of office systems and procedures, including a familiarity with the maintenance of patient medical records. </li></ul> <p>PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS</p> <ul> <li>Previous experience working in a health care system. </li><li>Previous experience working as a receptionist in a medical office. </li><li>Experience working effectively in a multicultural environment. </li><li>Demonstrated familiarity with electronic medical record and billing software. </li></ul> <p>This is a permanent, 10-month position with an annual work schedule of August 15th through June 15th. The work schedule is Tuesday through Friday: 9:00 am to 5:30 pm, with Saturday hours of 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with a half-hour lunch. This schedule is applicable while classes are in session and weekend differential pay will apply as appropriate. During the academic breaks, the hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm with a half-hour lunch.</p> <p>This position is categorized as Emergency Support Services/Essential Staff. The individual in this role must be willing to work during emergency closures/delayed openings due to inclement weather or for significant events that affect campus operations.
