Instructional methods and materials will be assigned to the paraeducator by the teacher to use with each student or group of students. Have the equivalent of two years of college or be willing to take and pass a competency test. The paraeducator should be proficient or willing to learn computer skills and keyboarding. Paraeducators need to complete the Fundamental Course of Study requirements.</p> <p>Reports to:</p> <p>Building Principal, Migrant Director, Director of Teaching and Learning</p> <p>Supervises:</p> <p>No direct report</p> <p>RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Assist individual students and small groups of identified Migrant students in in promoting academic success and building English language development through instructional activities, which have been planned, assigned and organized by the professional staff. </li><li>Demonstrate the ability to work with multiple supervisors </li><li>Work with Title I and Homeless students as well as communicate with families of McKinney-Vento (homeless) students as a support for them under Title I. </li><li>Assist with Title I duties for supporting McKinney-Vento (homeless) students. </li><li>Remain confidential regarding school matters, staff and students </li><li>Demonstrate competency with computers (word processing, database and spreadsheets) </li><li>Assist in administering and scoring the WIDA or other language dominance/academic tests. Collect and organize data and information as directed. </li><li>Assist in documentation for Migrant/Bilingual children in the program and related information as directed by the professional staff </li><li>Assist in maintaining various files as directed by the professional staff </li><li>Assist in the supervision of Migrant/Bilingual students in a school setting </li><li>Other duties as assigned by Building Principal, Migrant Director, and Director of Teaching and Learning (Title I Director) </li></ul> <p>WORKING CONDITIONS:</p> <p>Working area will be in multiple locations depending on the needs of the students. Provide assistance in the educational needs of students. Provide assistance in the preparation and maintenance of educational materials. Provide assistance in the supervision of students including escorting students to and from classes. Provide assistance in the reinforcement of the teacher's directions, activities or skills to be practiced. Assignment will be determined on the needs of the students and is subject to change when the needs of the students change.</p> <p>CAREER OPPORTUNITIES:</p> <p>Experience in a rural school district working with a diversified population. Employee may be required to perform extensive work at a computer display terminal.</p> <p>Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, or consistent with the subject being taught, but can be abnormally loud on occasion.</p> <p>While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally work in outside weather conditions and be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, temperature fluctuations, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals commonly used in instruction and/or cleaning. It may be expected that the individual could be exposed to blood or other potentially infectious materials during the course of their duties.
