<ul> <li>Area of Interest: Nursing </li><li>FTE/Hours per pay period: 0.9 </li><li>Department: In School Health WL School </li><li>Shift: 0730-1430 or 0830-1530 </li><li>Job ID: 168201 </li></ul> <p>Overview</p> <p>RN School Nurse- Float</p> <p>Waterloo Community Schools</p> <p>0730-14300 or 0830-1530, full-time</p> <p>$5,000 Sign on Bonus</p> <p>This is a hybrid position in which the RN will float between school buildings within the district based on daily coverage needs. When school-based support is not required, the RN will provide care and support at various UnityPoint Health clinics as directed. Successful performance contributes to a holistic approach to the delivery of services, quality patient/family care, and a high level of satisfaction from patients and families. In conjunction with management, the RN plans, directs, facilitates, and evaluates school nursing services provided.</p> <p>Successfully functions as a Registered Nurse as defined in Iowa Nursing Regulations and Practice Act. Provides nursing services and care coordination as outlined by the professional service agreement with the Waterloo Community Schools (WCSD). Delivers nursing care for patients and families and maintains a practice environment that reflects the ANA Code for Nurses, Philosophy of Nursing at UnityPoint Health Waterloo within the structure of the Professional Nurse Practice Model and in collaboration with other care givers. Successful performance contributes to a holistic approach to the delivery of services, quality patient/family care, and a high level of satisfaction from patients and families. We even offer pet insurance for your four-legged family members. </li><li>Early access to earned wages with Daily Pay, tuition reimbursement to help further your career and adoption assistance to help you grow your family. </li></ul> <p>With a collective goal to champion a culture of belonging where everyone feels valued and respected, we honor the ways people are unique and embrace what brings us together.</p> <p>And, we believe equipping you with support and development opportunities is a vital part of delivering an exceptional employment experience.</p> <p>Find a fulfilling career and make a difference with UnityPoint Health.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <p>Care Coordination</p> <ul> <li>Coordinates all program required care necessary for students, staff, and community members in order to provide a healthy learning environment for all students in the Waterloo Community School District. </li><li>Utilizes the delegation interpretive statement to guide best practice when supervising and delegating to Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) Health Assistants, in the schools. </li><li>Coordinates referrals to students' medical home or private healthcare provider </li><li>Coordinates all program required care necessary for students, staff, and community members in order to provide a healthy learning environment for all students in the Waterloo Community School District. </li><li>Utilizes the delegation interpretive statement to guide best practice when supervising and delegating to Unlicensed Assistive Personnel (UAP) Health Assistants, in the schools. </li><li>Coordinates referrals to students' medical home or private healthcare provider </li><li>Assist the educational team in identification of learners needing accommodations or specialized instruction related to their health during the school day. </li><li>Develops Individualized Health Plans (IHP's), Emergency Plans (EP's), and Emergency Evacuation Plans (EEP's) for students in order to create a safe learning environment and educate the staff on health prevention and promotion. </li><li>Provides direct nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process including pertinent and appropriate documentation through required school nurse documentation and the EMR at WCSD. </li><li>Assures compliance with State mandated health requirements for school entry to include, but not limited to: Immunizations, dental, vision, physical, and lead screening. </li></ul> <p>Patient Care</p> <ul> <li>Works with families, physicians, and Waterloo Community Schools. </li><li>Uses the nursing process to promote positive health and development of students </li><li>Assures all program-required health screenings are conducted and completed </li><li>Maintains responsibility for the condition of assigned patients. </li><li>Implements procedures for prevention of communicable diseases in the schools and alerts staff and parents/ guardians to health trends and issues </li></ul> <p>Education</p> <ul> <li>Provides education to students, staff and families to promote health and safety. </li><li>Provides self-management support to students </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <p>Minimum Requirements:</p> <p>Associates Degree in Nursing</p> <p>One year nursing experience</p> <p>Current license in the state of Iowa or meets criteria established by Iowa Board of Nursing.</p> <p>Valid driver's license when driving any vehicle for work-related reasons.</p> <p>Preferred:</p> <p>Bachelors of Science in Nursing</p> <p>Pediatric nursing experience</p>
