Come join us at ChristianaCare!</p> <p>The Laboratory Services Department is hiring! We are searching for a Cytotechnologist to work at our Christiana campus location on the day shift. Hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. No weekend hours.</p> <p>In this role, the Cytotechnologist will perform cytologic procedures and microscopic examinations on tissue specimens and body fluids to provide physicians with information to aid in diagnosing and treating patients.</p> <p>Principal duties and responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Examines gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology specimens microscopically according to established protocol.</p> </li><li> <p>Is responsible for recording the slide interpretation results of each case examined or reviewed; for each 24-hour period, the total number of slides examined or reviewed in all laboratories; and the number of hours spent examining slides in each 24-hour period.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists in obtaining and assessing adequacy of fine needle aspirations.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares non-gynecologic specimens by smear techniques, cytocentrifugation or filtration according to standard procedure.</p> </li><li> <p>Prepares and maintains chemical reagents and stains.</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrates knowledge of location, operation, and maintenance of equipment.</p> </li><li> <p>Communicates results of testing to nursing units, physicians, and other authorized individuals.</p> </li><li> <p>Actively participates in quality control program.</p> </li><li> <p>Follows all CCHS and laboratory safety policies.</p> </li><li> <p>Reviews laboratory safety manual annually.</p> </li><li> <p>Works cooperatively with supervisors and co-workers and maintains a good rapport with other departments.</p> </li><li> <p>Answers the telephone courteously and promptly.</p> </li><li> <p>Attends departmental Inservice meetings as required.</p> </li><li> <p>Assists with training of new employees and students.</p> </li></ul> <p>Christiana care offers:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Diverse and Inclusive culture</p> </li><li> <p>Robust benefit package including full medical, dental and vision</p> </li><li> <p>403(b) with a company match</p> </li><li> <p>Generous paid time off with annual roll-over and opportunities to cash out</p> </li><li> <p>12 week paid parental leave</p> </li><li> <p>Incredible Work/Life benefits including annual membership to care.com, access to backup care services for dependents through Care@Work, retirement planning services, financial coaching, fitness and wellness reimbursement, and great discounts through several vendors for hotels, rental cars, theme parks, shows, sporting events, movie tickets and much more</p> </li></ul> <p>Education and experience requirements:</p> <ul> <li> <p>B.S. in Cytotechnology or</p> </li><li> <p>B.S. in the Sciences and Certificate in Cytotechnology</p> </li><li> <p>One year experience preferred</p> </li></ul> <p>About ChristianaCare</p> <p>Headquartered in Wilmington, Delaware, ChristianaCare is one of the country's most dynamic health systems, centered on improving health outcomes, making high-quality care more accessible and lowering health care costs.
