<p>Position Summary</p> <p>The Summer Nursing Intern (SNI) is a nursing student in the midst of an accredited professional nursing program and entering their junior or senior year. The SNI position is an opportunity for exposure and growth in integrating faith and medicine in the setting of community health care. The SNI will be an active contributor in patient education and projects supporting clinic workflow and patient care. The SNI reports to the Nurse Director and works under the direct supervision of Clinic Nurses.</p> <p>Principal Duties and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Upholds the mission, vision, and values of Lawndale Christian Health Center.Provides project and administrative support to the nursing team and other patient-centered support teams. </li><li>Provides patient education in areas such as chronic disease, lifestyle management, and diet. </li><li>Assists care teams in responding to patient requests and concerns. </li><li>Participates in care team meetings, monthly nurse meetings, and clinic-wide quarterly meetings. </li></ul> <p>Required Skill and Abilities</p> <ul> <li>Communicates effectively with patients in a manner that protects their confidentiality and is sensitive to their culture and to their physical/emotional/spiritual condition. </li><li>Flexibility and ability to adapt to changes in schedule or focus area. </li><li>Works well with a variety of ages, cultures, and temperaments represented among LCHC staff and patients, treating others with kindness and professionalism in all they do. </li><li>Commitment to demonstrating personal integrity through punctuality, honesty, an ability to follow instructions, proper attention to detail in all work matters, and a willingness learn from others. </li><li>Ability to work independently as appropriate, take initiative, and set priorities in accordance with the needs and mission of the clinic. </li><li>Clear and concise written and verbal communication skills for communicating coherently and professionally with patients and co-workers. </li></ul> <p>Required Knowledge, Education, Experience, Licensure/Registration, and Immunization</p> <ul> <li>Active BLS Certification </li><li>Up to date on Immunizations as required by Employee Health </li><li>Entering Junior or Senior year of an accredited professional nursing program </li><li>Completion of at least one clinical rotation in nursing program </li><li>A letter of reference from a member of their nursing program faculty </li><li>Knowledge of Spanish is helpful </li></ul>
