The program is structured around four key pillars that guide intervention and student growth:</p> <ul> <li> <p>Communication - Supporting the development of functional communication skills, whether through verbal language, augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), or other individualized strategies.</p> </li><li> <p>Social-Emotional Development - Teaching self-regulation, emotional awareness, and social interaction skills to foster meaningful connections with peers and adults.</p> </li><li> <p>Play - Utilizing play-based interventions as a primary mode of learning, encouraging engagement, creativity, and relationship-building.</p> </li><li> <p>Behavior - Implementing individualized supports and interventions to promote positive behavior and self-regulation.</p> </li></ul> <p>The school psychologist in this role will provide comprehensive early intervention services, including assessments, behavioral supports, and social-emotional instruction, to help students build the foundational skills necessary for success in preschool and beyond. This position requires expertise in early childhood development, trauma-informed care, and play-based interventions to support young learners in a highly individualized and structured setting. The school psychologist will work closely with teachers, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and families to develop and implement effective interventions that promote functional communication, positive social interactions, and emotional regulation.</p> <p>Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li> <p>Conduct developmental, psychological, and behavioral assessments to inform individualized intervention plans and IEPs.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide direct support in social-emotional learning, communication strategies, and behavior interventions tailored to preschool-aged students.</p> </li><li> <p>Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments and develop behavior intervention plans for students, coach staff on consistent implementation of behavioral strategies.</p> </li><li> <p>Facilitate collaborative problem-solving conversations to help support skill-building for students.</p> </li><li> <p>Utilize play-based interventions to build social engagement and early learning skills.</p> </li><li> <p>Collaborate with teachers, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, and families to support student growth across settings.</p> </li><li> <p>Provide family coaching and consultation, helping families understand their child's development, and caregivers with strategies to reinforce developmental progress at home.</p> </li><li> <p>Support structured transitions and inclusion opportunities to help students generalize skills across environments.</p> </li><li> <p>Lead professional development for staff regarding various topics in collaboration with other related service providers.</p> </li></ul> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li> <p>Master's or Specialist degree (Ed.S., Ph.D., or Psy.D.) in school psychology from an accredited program.</p> </li><li> <p>Valid Colorado Department of Education (CDE) school psychologist license or eligibility to obtain.</p> </li><li> <p>Experience working with preschool-aged children, particularly those with developmental delays, ASD, or social-emotional challenges.</p> </li><li> <p>Strong knowledge of early childhood assessment tools, play-based interventions, and positive behavior supports.</p> </li><li> <p>Ability to collaborate within a multidisciplinary team and engage in problem-solving to support student success.</p> </li></ul> <p>Application Procedure: Apply to www.workat27j.com.</p> <p>External applicants: upload a current resume and a special service license from the Colorado Department of Education.</p> <p>27J Current Contracted Teachers: use the Internal Application, upload a current resume and provide a maximum of 2 years previous work experience.
