<p>Piper Companies is seeking a Lead Engineer to support an organization within the insurance and annuities industry. The Lead Engineer role is ideal for a strong full-stack developer with deep experience in Node.js, AWS, and React, and a background supporting internal IT and business groups.</p> <p>Responsibilities of the Lead Engineer:</p> <ul> <li>Design, develop, and maintain full-stack applications using Node.js, AWS services, and React. </li><li>Serve as a technical lead on key initiatives, providing architectural guidance and hands-on development. </li><li>Collaborate closely with internal IT teams and business stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver scalable solutions. </li><li>Ensure best practices in code quality, cloud infrastructure, and application performance. </li><li>Support production systems, troubleshoot issues, and guide junior engineers as needed. </li></ul> <p>Qualifications of the Lead Engineer:</p> <ul> <li>5-8 years of full-stack engineering experience. </li><li>Strong proficiency with Node.js, React, and AWS cloud services. </li><li>Experience supporting internal, enterprise-level IT and business groups. </li><li>Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, modern DevOps practices, and cloud-native architectures. </li><li>Ability to work in a hybrid setting and collaborate effectively in both onsite and remote environments. </li></ul> <p>Compensation for the Lead Engineer includes:</p> <ul> <li>Salary range: $115,000 - $130,000 depending on experience </li><li>Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, 401(k), and PTO </li><li>Hybrid schedule with 3 days onsite weekly in Durham, NC </li></ul> <p>This job opens for applications on 2/26/2026.
