<p>General Description</p> <p>The Teen Outreach Facilitator position will function as a member of the Youth, Family, and Recreation Division of Human Services and will specialize in substance use prevention and mental health promotion.</p> <p>Duties & Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Act as an essential member of the Drug Free Communities grant implementation team. </li><li>Assist with the recruitment and continued engagement of members of the Teens Empowering Norwich leadership group, and the Norwich Prevention Council. </li><li>Participate in the facilitation of mental health, substance use prevention, and wellness activities for the Teens Empowering Norwich leadership group. </li><li>Develop promotional materials such as flyers, posters, and other advertisements. </li><li>Participate in the creation of social media content for the Norwich Prevention Council accounts. </li><li>Attend and assist with the planning of community events. </li></ul> <p>Supervision Received</p> <p>Works under the general supervision of the Drug Free Communities Coordinator, or designee.</p> <p>Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>Norwich Resident. </li><li>Valid Connecticut Driver's License. </li><li>Between the ages of 18 and 24. </li><li>Previous exposure to behavioral health topics such as mental health, substance use, etc. </li><li>Excellent communication skills both in person and over the phone. </li><li>Must display interpersonal skills and the ability to work with diverse populations, including but not limited to youth, schools, law enforcement and community leaders. </li><li>Proven ability to work independently and excellent organizational skills. </li><li>Experience with social media sites. </li><li>Multi-language speaker is preferred but not required. </li></ul> <p>Important Information</p> <p>Confidentiality - the Teen Outreach Facilitator may be exposed to confidential medical information.
