<p>Job Title: Assistant Dean - Nursing</p> <p>Full/Part Time: Full Time</p> <p>FLSA Classification: Exempt</p> <p>Campus: Post</p> <p>Reports To: Dean - Nursing Department</p> <p>Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities:</p> <p>The Assistant Dean reports directly to the Dean of the Nursing Department and is responsible for the overall development and operation of the educational programs in the Nursing Department, personnel management, faculty recruitment, and day-to-day affairs of the Nursing Department. The Assistant Dean coordinates activities with the Dean to achieve the education and community service missions of the School, as well as overseeing and evaluating the Nursing Department operations</p> <p>Principal Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provides leadership and oversight for undergraduate and graduate nursing programs. </li><li>Oversees the day-to-day operations of the School, assist the Dean in budget planning and strategic planning and initiatives. </li><li>Plans with the faculty and appropriate committees for student admission, progression, retention and advisement activities related to the undergraduate and graduate programs. </li><li>Assists the Dean in the recruitment and selection of nursing faculty and staff </li><li>Advises and counsels students; mediates problems between students and faculty. </li><li>Takes over responsibilities of the School in Dean's absence </li><li>Special projects as defined by the Dean </li><li>Provides leadership in curriculum development, evaluation and accreditation and regulatory requirements. </li><li>Community Engagement: Strengthen Partnerships with health care organizations, agencies and alumni. </li></ul> <p>Education Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Earned doctorate in nursing or doctorate in related field plus a master's degree in nursing </li><li>Five to eight years related professional experience; demonstrated leadership qualities, administrative and some teaching experience </li></ul> <p>Training, Skills, Knowledge, Experience:</p> <ul> <li>Prior teaching and administrative experience in a baccalaureate or higher degree program </li><li>Excellent skills in leadership, supervision, written and oral communication skills. </li><li>Registered Nurse licensed in New York State </li></ul> <p>Working Conditions: Nursing School Post Campus</p> <p>Materials & Equipment: Operate a computer, copy and fax machine, scanner & any other office equipment</p> <p>LIU is an equal opportunity employer.
