<p>Occupational Summary:</p> <p>The postgraduate fellow will provide administrative and instructional support for the Center for Collections Care (C3). The fellow will assist in: (1) management of classroom and equipment, tools, and materials and supplies and course logistics for in-person and online courses; (2) online curriculum development; (3) marketing and participant recruitment; and (4) program evaluation. The fellow will also contribute to collections management and care in the Logan Museum of Anthropology. The fellow will assist in: (1) facilitating access to collections by faculty, students, and visiting researchers; (2) collections management and care; (3) supervision of student assistants; (4) cataloging collections to facilitate intellectual accessibility; and (5) teaching Introduction to Collections Management and Care. The fellow will be mentored and supervised by the C3 faculty director and Logan Museum director, Nicolette Meister.</p> <p>Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Provide administrative and instructional support for Center for Collections Care, including: </li><li>Manage classroom and equipment, tools, and materials and supplies and course logistics. </li><li>Compile materials for hands-on kits for online classes. </li><li>Market C3 by writing and posting stories on social media and the website about courses. </li><li>Review of scholarships in collaboration with members of the Faculty Director. </li><li>Course evaluation and compilation of evaluation data. h. Recruit new participants by design and developing marketing material and attend the Association of Midwest Museums conference. </li><li>Attend in-person and online C3courses. </li><li>Assist in the management and care of the Logan Museum's collections, including: </li><li>Proper storage, preventive care, and inventory of permanent collections. </li><li>Registration and cataloging of new acquisitions. </li><li>Entering data in the collections management software system. </li><li>Assist and collaborate with faculty and students using collections as curricular resources. </li><li>Assist in scheduling, training, and supervising students in tasks related to collections management and care. </li><li>Present lectures and/or workshops in conjunction with Introduction to Collections Care and Management. </li><li>Maintain open communication with and provide weekly progress reports to the faculty director. </li><li>Perform other similarly-related duties as assigned. </li></ul> <p>Credentials and Experience:</p> <ul> <li>MA or MLIS in museum studies, public history, library or information science, or related fields required. </li><li>At least one year of prior experience working with collections preferred; demonstrated ability to work with collections safely and responsibly required. </li><li>Working knowledge of current practices, theories, ethics, and policies in the field of museums required. </li><li>Strong interest in humanities-based collections care and access required. </li></ul> <p>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to understand and appreciate the mission of a residential, liberal arts college and to work well, in a fast-paced office, with diverse faculty, staff, students, alums, general public in a variety of situations. </li><li>Ability to develop, and to contribute to, learning and work environments welcoming to people from a diverse variety of backgrounds and experiences. </li><li>Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including grammar, punctuation, spelling and proofreading. </li><li>Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changing activities, expectations, and responsibilities. </li><li>Excellent problem solving skills, with the ability to think critically, effectively prioritize, plan, and organize multiple tasks and projects and meet set deadlines without immediate and constant supervision. </li><li>Knowledge of customer service standards and the ability to communicate effectively with faculty, administrators, staff, students, families of students, prospective students and their families and the general public. </li><li>Ability to maintain confidentiality and to safeguard the confidentiality of records. </li><li>Willingness to look for improvements in personal and office performance and initiate proposals which enhance the work of the office. </li></ul> <p>How to Apply</p> <p>Applicants should submit a cover letter and resume to:</p> <p>Nicolette Meister</p> <p>James E.
