<p>As the Staff Engineer with the Retail Media Network Ad Engineering, you will lead the technical development and technical strategy of the company's self-service ad platform. This role is responsible for collaborating closely with product, marketing, data science, and external partners to build and optimize a robust, scalable, and innovative ad platform. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in ad technology, programmatic advertising with the ability to drive technical initiatives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. You will be a technical leader across multiple products or systems and recognized as an expert and thought leader in this area as well considered a mentor and teacher across squads with the ability to influence outside their direct teams.</p> <p>This role is hybrid, which means you will work some days on site at a Best Buy location and some days virtually from home or other non-Best Buy location. For this role, you must be located within a drivable distance to our office in Richfield, Minnesota.</p> <p>What you'll do</p> <ul> <li>Influence the architecture of complex systems and processes, driving strategic technical decisions across teams. </li><li>Solve highly complex issues using innovative approaches, including advanced debugging, triaging, and incident response. </li><li>Communicate tradeoffs between technical, analytical, and product needs to guide balanced decision-making. </li><li>Identify opportunities to improve the SDLC, reliability, monitoring, and support; recommend tools and standards to enhance efficiency. Ensure high standards of quality, performance, and reliability in custom-built systems while staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies. </li><li>Build and maintain strong technical and business relationships across a growing network of peers and stakeholders. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>5+ years of relevant experience with a Bachelor's degree OR equivalent relevant professional experience </li><li>5+ years of programming or scripting language experience (Java/Spring, React, Next.js, Typescript) </li><li>3+ years of experience building custom systems, cloud environments (GCP & AWS) and architecture design in large environments </li><li>3+ years of experience with systems like Postgres, Kafka, Redis, Kubernetes, Grafana, Dynatrace and Kubernetes </li><li>1+ years of experience with formal or informal Leadership </li></ul> <p>Preferred Requirements:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field </li><li>7 or more years of relevant professional experience </li><li>5+ years experience with engineering custom solutions using modern languages, cloud technologies and SDLC practices and tools. </li><li>5+ years of experience with Cloud Platforms (AWC, GCP) </li><li>3+ years Experience with Retail Media Networks, Ad Engineering, Ad Servers or Demand Partners </li><li>Experience working in retail, marketing, or similar technologies and related areas </li><li>Experience with Agile methodologies and modern software development practices including Scrum and Kanban </li></ul> <p>What's in it for you</p> <p>We're committed to helping our people thrive at work and at home.
