<p>Job Details</p> <p>(SUBJECT TO BUDGET AVAILABILITY)</p> <p>POSITIONS:</p> <p>Individualized Education Services Program (IESP) Speech Improvement Itinerant Bilingual Yiddish (K - 12) (Number of positions to be determined)</p> <p>LOCATION:</p> <p>Itinerant Special Education Teacher positions. Assignments may include provision of service to preschool-age and school-age students and will be itinerant, where possible in contiguous districts, but in all cases, one borough only. This position will have a focus on provision of services to students with Individualized Education Services Plans (IESPs). Positions available in all boroughs. The positions report to the Special Education Office and are assigned primarily to nonpublic school settings, including private and religious schools, preschool programs, day cares and Head Start programs. Assignments subject to change, within the same borough, dependent on caseload and student enrollment.</p> <p>ELIGIBILITY:</p> <ul> <li>Current NYCPS Licensed and appointed Teacher of Speech Improvement with NYS certified bilingual extension in Yiddish. </li><li>Satisfactory rating(s) within the last two years </li><li>Bilingual service provision experience preferred. </li></ul> <p>TERM:</p> <p>One-year position (subject to renewal based on performance and need)</p> <p>SELECTION CRITERIA:</p> <ul> <li>Experience in, and knowledge of, providing bilingual speech-language evaluations to preschool and school age students. </li><li>Experience in, and knowledge of, a variety of standardized and non-standardized speech assessments, including bilingual assessments. </li><li>Experience in the use of dynamic assessments and the ability to synthesize bilingual assessment outcomes to recommend schoolbased speech and language recommendations in the least restrictive environment. </li><li>Knowledge of developmental milestones and Next Generation Learning Standards for early childhood and school-age students </li><li>Ability to articulate the relationship between speech and language skills and academic outcomes that contribute to quality IEP development. </li><li>Strong interpersonal skills necessary to collaborate with IEP teams, school agencies, parents and other stakeholders as necessary. </li><li>Satisfactory experience in completing speech and language assessments. </li><li>Knowledge of the pre-school and school age continuum of services, regulations of the NYSED Commissioner, regulations of the NYCPS Chancellor </li><li>Willingness to develop and present professional development and parent training events. </li><li>Strong organization and time management skills. o Proficiency in the use of NYCPS systems related to attendance and IEPs. </li></ul> <p>After interviewing applicants that meet the selection criteria above, the following <p>DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:</p> <ul> <li>Conduct formal and informal assessments, including classroom observations, at various CPSE/CSE, non-public, parochial, charter or public schools, children's homes and agencies and prepare written evaluation reports. </li><li>Provide consultation on all matters relating to communicative competencies of children referred for evaluation and/or receiving services to CPSE/CSE, non-public, parochial, charter or public-school staff, families, and other agencies. </li><li>Participate in CPSE/CSE reviews at various CPSE/CSE, non-public, parochial, charter or public schools, children's homes, and agencies. </li><li>Consult with schools, agencies and supervisory staff on matters relating to Speech and Language Therapy, including instruction on therapeutic intervention, methodology, and developing individual goals and objectives for students as per IEP. </li><li>Participate in multidisciplinary and parent conferences to discuss student progress and provide recommendations for service delivery in the least restrictive environment. </li><li>Collaborate on the development of quality IEPs for preschool and school age students. </li><li>Conduct outreach to parents/guardians with a focus on providing recommendations to enhance students' functional ability and continued development in both school and home. </li><li>Consult with school, agency, parent, IEP teams and all other stakeholders on tiered classroom/current setting supports. </li><li>Participate in Impartial Hearing meetings as necessary. </li><li>Maintain all related information in specified NYCPS information systems. </li><li>Travel to various locations where meetings and evaluations are held. </li><li>Perform other related duties consistent with this posting. </li><li>Perform other duties as assigned by the CSE Chairperson in accordance with the UFT. </li><li>Provide speech and language therapy services as per IESP goals and mandates. </li><li>Conduct comprehensive evaluations and progress monitoring (first bullet or 'duties') </li><li>Provide consultation on all matters relating to communicative competencies of children referred for evaluation and/or receiving services to CPSE/CSE, non-public, parochial, charter or public-school staff, families, and other agencies … add "knowledge of assistive technology" line
