Learn more about us at worcester.edu/about .</p> <p>Job Description: OFFICIAL TITLE: Clerk V, Office of the Registrar SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Director, Office of the Registrar SUPERVISION EXERCISED: May supervise non-benefited part-time and student employees</p> <p>General Statement of Duties: The Clerk V for the Registrar's Office provides front-line customer service for the department. The incumbent will be heavily involved in the certification of eligibility of veteran benefits for current students at all academic levels, undergraduate and graduate, matriculated and non-matriculated.</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <p>(E) = Essential</p> <p>(E) Provides a central point of access for information to matriculated and non-matriculated graduate and undergraduate students served by the Registrar's Office. (E) Answers calls and messages for general Registrar office number. (E) Provides excellent customer service for all Registrar stakeholders. (E) Interprets and explains WSU academic policy, and federal and state veteran policy, to various stakeholders including students, parents, faculty and staff. (E) Responsible for the creation and maintenance of student academic records (veteran student eligibility for state and federal agencies, etc.). (E) Supports the Director and Associate Director in the generation, distribution, and indexing of Registrar communications (approximately 5,500 annually). (E) Generates various reports from Colleague, especially in regards to VA certification. (E) Generates and processes requests for enrollment verifications. (E) Interacts regularly with Military Affairs and Veteran Services, DGCE, the Student Accounts Office, Financial Aid, Academic Success, the Retention Office, Office of Alumni, and WSU Faculty and Staff. (E) Interfaces regularly with both state and federal government agencies in regards to VA laws, certification and policies. (E) Provides needed coverage for the registrar@worcester.edu email account, answering questions from current and prospective students. (E) Processes student registrations (in-person and emailed). Problem solves registrations that are not able to be processed. (E) Supports the Registrar's Office in planned events including, but not limited to participation in: Undergraduate Commencement, preregistration, SAS registration, etc. (E) Assists in certifying the eligibility of students for their veteran benefits in the federal Enrollment Manager system. (E) Trains new 03 workers on the front desk and Registrar business. (E) Supports the Registrar and Associate Registrar. (E) Demonstrates civility and professional, customer-service oriented behavior, worthy of emulation by other staff and students. (E) Responsible for contributing to the WSU Strategic Plan. (E) Responsible for contributing to Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action objectives. Performs other duties as assigned within the Clerk V classification</p> <p>a. Classification specifications are available at http://www.mass.edu/foradmin/humanresources/classspecshrd.asp</p> <p>Requirements: Required Qualifications:</p> <p>Must have at least (A) four years of full-time, or equivalent part-time, experience in office work, of which (B) at least one year must have been in a supervisory or administrative capacity, or (C) any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.</p> <p>Substitutions:</p> <p>A diploma as evidence of graduation from the commercial or business course of a recognized high school or vocational/technical high school may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.<em> A diploma as evidence of graduation from a course other than the commercial or business course of a recognized high school or vocational/technical high school or possession of a Massachusetts high school equivalency certificate may be substituted for a maximum of eight months of the required (A) experience.</em> A diploma for completion of a one-year, full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized, non-degree granting business or secretarial school above the high school level may be substituted for a maximum of one year of the required (A) experience.<em> A diploma for completion of a two-year, full-time, or equivalent part-time, program in a recognized, non-degree granting business or secretarial school above the high school level may be substituted for a maximum of two years of the required (A) experience.</em></p> <ul> <li>Education toward such a degree or diploma will be prorated on the basis of the proportion of the requirements actually completed. </li></ul> <p>NOTE: Educational substitutions will only be permitted for a maximum of two years of the required (A) experience. No substitutions will be permitted for the required (B) experience.</p> <p>Demonstrated excellence in customer service; preferably in a higher educational setting. Strong organizational skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work on the computer with Word, Excel, Access and other office-based software. Detail-oriented, ability to handle confidential information. Strong record keeping skills. Experience in supervision of clerical staff.</p> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <p>Bachelor's degree. Experience as a School Certifying Official for an Institute of Higher Learning (IHL). 5 years of full-time or equivalent part-time experience in office work in higher education. Knowledge of Colleague and federal Enrollment Manager software. Experience with registering students and certifying students for their veteran benefits. The bi-weekly salary is $2,028.38(annual salary is $52,737.88).
