No</p> <p>County Oswego</p> <p>Street Address Fort Ontario Historic Site</p> <p>1 East Fourth Street</p> <p>City Oswego</p> <p>StateNY</p> <p>Zip Code13126</p> <p>Duties Description Under the direction of the Historic Site Manager A, SG-23 and Park Supervisor 1, SG-11, or their designee, the incumbent will be involved in all aspects of historic site maintenance including, but not limited to, the following:</p> <ul> <li>Conduct inspections and maintenance in park buildings and throughout the grounds. </li><li>Clean facilities and grounds; load and unload vehicles. </li><li>Operate and perform basic maintenance of equipment including self-propelled tools, power-driven tools, and vehicles. </li><li>Perform upkeep and repair of park roads and paths, landscaping, gardening and mowing. </li><li>Perform proper tree care using a chainsaw including pruning and removal of trees. </li><li>Perform semi-skilled tasks such as carpentry, masonry, plumbing, electrical, and painting; assist the site manager and regional restoration staff in performing restoration work on historic structures. </li><li>Supervise and train seasonal staff; assist with reviewing and evaluating employees. </li><li>Coordinate with staff during events and in emergency situations. </li><li>Assist in snow and ice removal which will include shoveling and the operation of snow removal equipment. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications One year of experience in the operation and/or maintenance of a park, historic site, golf course, or recreational facility;</p> <p>OR - One year of experience in any of the following fields:</p> <ul> <li>Law enforcement or security </li><li>Firefighting </li><li>Emergency Medical Services </li><li>Environmental education or stewardship </li><li>Natural resources management (e.g., forest management, wildlife management/preservation) </li><li>Historic preservation or interpretation </li><li>Landscaping or grounds maintenance </li></ul> <p>OR - One year of military service in any branch of the United States Armed Forces;</p> <p>OR - Thirty (30) semester credit hours* of college-level coursework from an accredited college or university;</p> <p>OR - Completion of a two-year technical/trades school program;</p> <p>OR - Two years of experience as a trade assistant working under the direct supervision of a skilled tradesperson.</p> <ul> <li>Your credit hours must have been awarded by a college or university accredited by a regional, national, or specialized agency recognized as an accrediting agency by the U.S. Department of Education/U.S. Secretary of Education. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States or its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency. Candidates are responsible for the evaluation fee. </li></ul> <p>Additional Comments OPERATING NEEDS:</p> <ul> <li>Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license that allows the candidate to legally operate a motor vehicle in New York State as a term and condition of employment. </li><li>Must be able to safely operate equipment including tractors and mowers. </li><li>Must have the ability to operate a chainsaw and must complete OPRHP sawyer training.
