<p>Posting Details</p> <p>Position Information</p> <p>Requisition Number AS894P Job Title Data and Decision Support Specialist Pay Rate $73,425 - $80,768 annually Position Type Administrative Position Summary</p> <p>Position Summary:</p> <p>The Data and Decision Support Specialist plays a pivotal role within the Center for Strategic Innovation and Foresight, supporting the Director of Institutional Effectiveness and senior leadership in advancing a culture of evidence-based planning, decision-making, and continuous improvement. This role focuses on ensuring the accuracy and usability of institutional data, producing actionable insights, and creating clear, compelling data visualizations. The Specialist collaborates across departments to support strategic initiatives, monitor performance, and provide critical decision support aligned with institutional priorities. Ability to use varying styles and approaches that reflect an understanding and acceptance of the role of culture in a diverse, multicultural workplace.</p> <p>Essential Duties and Responsibilities:</p> <p>The following are the functions essential to performing this job:</p> <ol> <li>Data Quality and Integrity </li></ol> <ul> <li>Maintain high standards of data accuracy, consistency, and reliability across institutional systems. </li><li>Perform routine audits, validations, and reconciliation of institutional data to support reporting and strategic initiatives. </li><li>Document data definitions, sources, and processes to improve data literacy and transparency across the college. </li></ul> <ol start="2"> <li>Data Visualization and Reporting </li></ol> <ul> <li>Design and maintain dynamic dashboards and visual reports using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms. </li><li>Translate complex datasets into intuitive visuals and narratives that support institutional planning and leadership decisions. </li><li>Generate recurring and ad hoc reports for internal stakeholders and external reporting needs. </li></ul> <ol start="3"> <li>Strategic Decision Support </li></ol> <ul> <li>Provide analytical support to the Director of Institutional Effectiveness and senior leadership through data modeling, forecasting, and trend analysis. </li><li>Assist in evaluating strategic options, risks, and potential outcomes related to student success, resource allocation, and institutional performance. </li><li>Contribute to the development of decision-support tools and evidence-based planning frameworks. </li></ul> <ol start="4"> <li>Continuous Improvement and Change Management </li></ol> <ul> <li>Support initiatives that promote a culture of continuous improvement and data-informed practice. </li><li>Collaborate with teams implementing change initiatives by providing timely data insights, impact assessments, and monitoring tools. </li><li>Participate in institutional projects that enhance processes, student success, and organizational effectiveness. </li></ul> <ol start="5"> <li>Planning and Performance Monitoring </li></ol> <ul> <li>Assist in defining and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs) aligned with strategic goals and operational objectives. </li><li>Support strategic planning processes by providing data and insights for goal-setting, benchmarking, and progress monitoring. </li><li>Prepare and communicate reports on institutional effectiveness and strategic initiative outcomes. </li></ul> <ol start="6"> <li>Cross-Functional Collaboration </li></ol> <ul> <li>Work collaboratively with academic, student services, and administrative departments to understand data needs and deliver appropriate solutions. </li><li>Liaise with IT, Institutional Research, and other data partners to ensure system integration and data alignment across functions. </li><li>Participate in planning workshops, forums, and stakeholder meetings to inform and align institutional priorities. </li></ul> <ol start="7"> <li>Other duties as assigned </li></ol> <p>Required Minimum Qualifications</p> <ol> <li> <p>Master's degree in data analytics, statistics, social sciences, public policy, information systems, or a related field</p> </li><li> <p>At least three years of experience in data analysis, institutional research, business intelligence, or a similar role</p> </li><li> <p>Demonstrated proficiency with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)</p> </li><li> <p>Strong understanding of data governance, data management, and data quality best practices</p> </li><li> <p>Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex data clearly to diverse audiences</p> </li><li> <p>Proficiency with data analysis languages (e.g., SQL, R, Python)</p> </li></ol> <p>Desired Qualifications</p> <ol> <li> <p>Doctoral degree in a relevant field</p> </li><li> <p>Experience working in a higher education setting</p> </li><li> <p>Familiarity with student information systems (e.g., PeopleSoft, Banner, Colleague) and institutional research tools</p> </li><li> <p>Understanding of strategic planning and organizational change methodologies</p> </li></ol> <p>Work Schedule</p> <p>8:30-4:30 Monday to Friday</p> <p>Full/Part Time Full Time Telework Eligible?
