<p>Workweek</p> <p>Up to 29 Hours | Spring, Summer, and Fall opportunities. Flexible schedule based on department needs and tutor availability. In person and hybrid modalities are available based on department needs.</p> <p>Position Summary</p> <p>Tutors play a key role in enhancing students' academic performance by offering tailored support and guidance. They work closely with students to identify learning challenges, reinforce subject knowledge, and develop effective study strategies. By creating a positive and engaging learning environment, tutors help students build confidence, master key concepts, and achieve their educational goals.</p> <p>Essential Job Functions and Responsibilities</p> <ul> <li>Analyze student needs and determine manageable concepts that align with the student's learning style </li><li>Answer student questions and clarify areas of concern </li><li>Review classroom or curricula topics and assignments </li><li>Assist students with homework, projects, test preparation, papers, research and other academic tasks </li><li>Demonstrate academic best practices for specific subjects </li><li>Provide students positive and constructive feedback </li><li>Identify student's academic challenges and recommend additional resources or support </li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned by immediate supervisor </li></ul> <p>Required Qualifications</p> <ul> <li>High school diploma </li><li>Proficiency in the subject(s) area being tutored, demonstrated through academic achievement, certifications, or practical experience </li><li>Strong communication skills both written and verbal to explain concepts clearly </li><li>Commitment to the mission of the community college' </li><li>Commitment to assisting and motivating students in ways appropriate to their diverse backgrounds and learning styles </li></ul> <p>COURSE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS:</p> <ul> <li>NAE: Familiarity with clinicals </li><li>BIO: Familiarity with assisting students in cadaver lab </li><li>ECE: Familiarity with assisting students in observations </li><li>WRITING: Familiarity with APA, MLA, and Chicago Style </li><li>MATH: Familiarity with TI-83, TI-84, or TI-nspire calculator </li></ul> <p>DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:</p> <ul> <li>Associate degree or higher </li><li>Prior tutoring experience </li><li>Familiar with and able to help with clinicals, if applicable to the content area </li></ul>
