At a moment of renewed vision and ambition, the College now seeks a Chief Administrative Officer to help shape its next chapter of impact.</p> <p>Reporting to the President, this leader will serve as a trusted strategic and operational partner to the President and senior leadership team, advancing the College's priorities and amplifying its voice and presence across the community, region, and beyond. The Chief Administrative Officer</p> <p>will provide visionary leadership in Institutional Advancement, Government Relations and External Affairs, Governance, Executive Communications, and the Office of the President while aligning institutional resources with a bold new strategic plan.</p> <p>As a connector across high-impact initiatives, collaborations, and partnerships, this leader willplay a role in strengthening the College's visibility, influence, and long-term sustainability-ensuring Prince George's Community College continues to transform lives, fuel opportunity, andserve as a powerful engine for social and economic mobility in Maryland.</p> <p>The Opportunity</p> <p>The Chief Administrative Officer serves as a trusted executive partner to the President, providing strategic leadership and counsel across the institution. With expertise in institutional advancement, philanthropic engagement, external and government relations, executive communications, project management, and research, this leader strengthens the President's ability to advance the College's vision, priorities, and impact.</p> <p>The Chief Administrative Officer will provide comprehensive leadership and management to a small team in institutional advancement, government relations and community outreach, executive communications, board and governance, and the President's Office.</p> <p>In this highly visible role, the Chief Administrative Officer leads major initiatives, convenes key workgroups and committees, and oversees internal and external communications on behalf of the President. The position ensures alignment of presidential priorities across divisions, fosters cross-functional collaboration, and amplifies the College's mission through strategic messaging, coordinated outreach, and high-level stakeholder engagement.</p> <p>Please refer to the Special Instructions to Applicants section for information on where to express your interest in the position and where to submit your documents. This site will not accept applications.</p> <p>Minimum Qualifications</p> <p>Education</p> <ul> <li>An advanced degree in a field that is relevant to the responsibilities of the CAO role or equivalent experience is required (doctoral degree preferred). </li></ul> <p>Criteria</p> <p>The Chief Administrative Officer will:</p> <ul> <li>Advance the President's institutional priorities by leveraging data, context, analysis, and strategic insight to inform decisions, coordinate institutional initiatives, and manage designated budgetary processes. </li><li>Oversee complex, multi-layered projects with competing priorities and ensure their successful execution through cross-functional collaboration and goal-oriented planning. </li><li>Serve as the President's senior strategic liaison, representing and communicating on the President's behalf with elected officials, policymakers, board members, donors, senior leaders, community partners, and industry leaders to advance institutional priorities and mission-driven initiatives. </li><li>Lead the development and implementation of the Institutional Advancement strategic plan, including philanthropic engagement, grants, and community stakeholder outreach. Develop and lead plans to further grow an integrated and strategic development program across all existing and potentially new development strategies and revenue sources. </li><li>In collaboration with the Foundation, provide institutional coordination and alignment of advancement priorities. </li><li>Anticipate, research, and respond to sensitive or high-priority matters, determining the most appropriate course of action and ensuring timely resolution. </li><li>Drive forward institutional timelines and operational workflows, ensuring consistent progress on initiatives aligned with presidential and college-wide goals. </li><li>Elevate emerging issues and key topics for presidential consideration and ensure follow-through across the organization. </li><li>Represent the Office of the President in college-wide planning, board communications, and high-level meetings, ensuring clarity, alignment, and continuity. </li><li>Manage the President's calendar and high-impact scheduling priorities, including strategic planning for major events and external engagements. </li><li>Coordinate board meeting logistics, prepare materials, and ensure optimal execution of presidential and cabinet-led forums and retreats. </li><li>Supervise and mentor the team, fostering a culture of accountability, service, and excellence. </li><li>Oversee operational workflows within the President's Office, ensuring responsiveness, efficiency, and alignment with strategic goals. </li><li>Support senior leadership meeting planning and documentation, including agendas and Cabinet meeting notes. </li><li>Comply with the State of Maryland ethics requirements, including annual financial disclosure with the Maryland State Ethics Commission. </li><li>Perform other duties in alignment with the strategic direction of the Office of the President. </li></ul> <p>Desired Knowledge and Skills</p> <p>While no candidate will likely possess them all, the successful candidate will bring a blend of most of the following competencies and personal attributes:</p> <ul> <li>Deep understanding of equity-centered leadership, systems thinking, and their implications for institutional policy and student success. </li><li>Proven ability to lead with integrity, emotional intelligence, and cultural competence in a dynamic and mission-driven environment. </li><li>Exceptional skills in strategy development, executive communications, and organizational leadership with a strong orientation toward achieving results. </li><li>Demonstrated communications ability to cultivate and engage stakeholders, ensuring consistent messaging across the College, building productive internal and external relationships to gain consensus, and effectively representing the President's Office. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to lead, prioritize, and manage multiple projects from concept to completion. </li><li>Strong analytical skills with the ability to make sound, data-informed decisions. </li><li>Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and empower a team to achieve stated goals. </li><li>Adept at navigating complex environments with sound judgment, thoughtful analysis, diplomacy, and professionalism. </li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to craft compelling messages for diverse audiences. </li><li>Effective under pressure and capable of prioritizing multiple demands while upholding a standard of excellence. </li><li>Strong understanding of higher education operations, grants and philanthropy, and student-facing organizational structures. </li><li>Demonstrates discretion, confidentiality, and trustworthiness in support of executive-level decision-making. </li><li>Leadership and management experience in higher education, or similarly complex and dynamic environment. </li></ul> <p>Job Requirements Is Background Check Required?
