<p>Job Description:</p> <p>Sandy Hook School</p> <p>12 Dickinson Drive</p> <p>Sandy Hook, CT 06482</p> <p>June 20, 2025</p> <p>Title: Special Education Paraeducator, 27 Hours/week</p> <p>School: Sandy Hook School</p> <p>Starting Date: August 20, 2025</p> <p>Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Work under the direction of special education teacher(s) to support individuals and/or small groups of students in all areas of academics </li><li>Ability to positively support the development of social-emotional skills </li><li>Ability to implement behavior support strategies and collect data, as needed </li><li>Ability to support student use of various learning strategies </li><li>Ability to support independent living skills, as needed </li><li>Provide assistance to teacher(s) in classroom tasks </li><li>Assist in other various capacities, as needed </li><li>Specific duties will vary based on grade level, content area, and student needs </li></ul> <p>Skills Required:</p> <ul> <li>Ability to assist in classroom instruction to support student learning </li><li>Ability to follow through on direction(s) </li><li>Ability to establish positive rapport with students </li><li>Possess strong teamwork and communication skills </li><li>Ability to remain calm, neutral and patient </li><li>Adapt easily to change </li></ul> <p>Qualifications:</p> <p>Must have completed the equivalent of 2 years of study at an institution of higher education, OR earned an Associate's Degree (or higher), OR attained a passing score on the ETS ParaPro Assessment.</p> <p>Remuneration: In accordance with the paraeducator contract, new hire rate starting at $18.14 per hour</p> <p>The Newtown Public School District values the benefits that a diverse workforce brings to our students and community.
