<p>Riverdale Y is a community and cultural center located in the Riverdale neighborhood of the Bronx. We provide educational, recreational, cultural, and wellness programming for children and adults of all ages. The Riverdale Y is rooted in universal values central to Jewish life. We are a sanctuary to think, learn and grow, an open door to creativity, fitness, and fun, and a catalyst for change and transformation.</p> <p>The part-time Volunteer Coordinator will focus on working collaboratively with individual departments at Riverdale Y to secure volunteers for all events and happenings.</p> <p>Job Functions:</p> <p>The duties below are the most significant responsibilities that are essential for effective performance in this role. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:</p> <ul> <li>Commit to 10-15 hours of agency support based on internal and external volunteer needs. </li><li>Coordinate monthly with department directors regarding volunteer needs. </li><li>Solicit and secure volunteers for the agency as needed with outreach to local schools, synagogues, corporate partners, and community organizations. </li><li>Maintain a centralized volunteer database to track service hours, placements, background checks, and contact information. </li><li>Communicate specific departmental needs with designated volunteers on day of service. </li><li>Coordinate onboarding for new volunteers, including applications, interviews, orientation, and required documentation. </li><li>Ensure all volunteers complete necessary background screenings and comply with agency policies and safety procedures. </li><li>Coordinate summer internship program through SYEP. </li><li>Create and distribute volunteer schedules, confirmations, and reminder communications. </li><li>Track and report volunteer impact metrics, including service hours and program outcomes. </li><li>Plan and implement volunteer recognition and appreciation initiatives to promote retention and engagement. </li><li>Collect feedback from volunteers and department staff to continuously improve the volunteer experience. </li><li>Assist with coordination of volunteers for special events, holiday programs, and community-wide initiatives. </li><li>Order necessary supplies for events as needed. </li><li>Represent Riverdale Y at community outreach events to promote volunteer opportunities. </li></ul> <p>Minimum Qualifications:</p> <p>Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in nonprofit management, administrative </li></ul> <p>or related fields.</p> <ul> <li>2+ years of experience in volunteer coordination. </li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills. </li><li>Proficient in Microsoft Office and volunteer management platforms (e.g., Better Impact, JotForm, Mailchimp, Monday.com). </li><li>Ability to manage multiple tasks, stay organized, and meet deadlines. </li><li>Passion for community engagement and the mission of the Riverdale Y. </li><li>Knowledge of the Riverdale community or experience in community-based organizations. </li><li>Creative thinker who is proactive and solutions-oriented. </li></ul> <p>Compensation: $24/hr ($50,000 prorated annually)</p> <p>Please submit your resume and cover letter to Careers@riverdaley.org.</p>
