<p>Kforce has a client in Chicago, IL that is seeking a Commissioning Electrician.</p> <p>Summary: This contract position supports the Amazon Commissioning (ACx) team at ORD59. The primary responsibility of this role is to instruct and certify commissioning vendors to successfully commission electrical data center equipment through the execution of functional testing scripts. The secondary responsibility is to assist the Learning and Development Program Manager with the maintenance, growth, and delivery of the accelerated vendor training program.</p> <p>Primary Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Instruct commissioning vendors on the proper execution of functional testing scripts for electrical data center equipment, including medium and low voltage power systems, UPS, generators, switchgear, PDUs, and Electrical Power Monitoring Systems (EPMS) </li><li>Evaluate vendor technicians against defined competency standards and issue certifications upon successful demonstration of required skills </li><li>Conduct hands-on field training sessions and evaluations to ensure vendors can safely and accurately perform pre-functional, functional, and integrated systems testing </li><li>Identify gaps in vendor knowledge or performance and implement corrective action plans </li><li>Maintain accurate records of vendor certifications, training completions, and evaluation outcomes </li><li>Audit vendor commissioning activities onsite to ensure compliance with safety, quality, and environmental requirements </li></ul> <p>Secondary Responsibilities:</p> <ul> <li>Assist the Learning and Development Program Manager with ongoing maintenance and growth of the accelerated vendor training program </li><li>Support the development, implementation, and delivery of commissioning training products, including instructional materials, assessments, and hands-on exercises* Active Journeyman Electrician license </li><li>5+ years of experience commissioning electrical systems in data center or mission-critical facility environments </li><li>Demonstrated experience executing functional testing scripts for electrical data center equipment </li><li>Strong working knowledge of medium and low voltage power distribution systems </li><li>Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, single-line diagrams, specifications, and sequences of operation </li><li>Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to convey technical concepts clearly to varied audiences </li><li>Ability to evaluate technical competency and provide constructive, professional feedback </li></ul> <p>Preferred Qualifications:</p> <ul> <li>OSHA 30 certification or equivalent </li><li>Prior experience in a formal instruction, training, or mentorship role within a trades or commissioning environment </li><li>Familiarity with commissioning documentation (test plans, scripts, completion reports) </li><li>Experience supporting large-scale commissioning programs with multiple concurrent vendors </li><li>Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) or EPMS platforms </li></ul>
