<p>Shift: Full-Time Nights: 36-hour week (7pm-7am)</p> <p>Unit/Location: Oncology - 14cd - Good Samaritan Hospital</p> <p>Up to a $2,500.00 sign on bonus</p> <p>At Good Samaritan Hospital's Oncology Unit, care is deeply rooted in expertise, compassion, and innovation. This 22-bed unit serves adult and geriatric patients with diverse medical-surgical needs, as well as those facing complex oncological conditions. From treating solid tumors and hematological malignancies to managing rare blood disorders, the team's knowledge and skill are unparalleled. Patients here also include individuals recovering from autologous bone marrow transplants and those who have undergone cutting-edge CAR-T cell therapies. As part of a continually expanding cellular therapy program, the unit is at the forefront of advanced cancer care. Our bone marrow transplant program is FACT accredited.</p> <p>Many patients receive chemotherapy alongside other high-risk medications, making this a setting where attention to detail and multidisciplinary teamwork are vital. Nurses in this unit are empowered to provide comprehensive care while advancing their own expertise.</p> <p>The Oncology Unit offers a flexible and supportive work environment, with 12-hour shifts and self-scheduling over a 6-week period. Staff follow a rotation of every third weekend and holidays, with options for day, night, and weekend-only shifts to accommodate varying needs.</p> <p>Job Overview:</p> <p>Provides assistance and/or performs basic activities of daily living and specified treatments and procedures under the direct supervision of the nurse. May perform non-direct patient care activities as assigned, requested, or directed including but not limited to stocking and clerical activities.</p> <p>Job Requirements:</p> <p>2 years High School Education</p> <p>Age 17 with work permit</p> <p>Basic Life Support (BLS)</p> <p>Reading and math ability appropriate to the position</p> <p>Job Responsibilities:</p> <p>Performs and documents basic patient care tasks under the direct supervision of an RN. Maintains competency of tasks in which the PCA has been trained. Completes assigned tasks within required timeframe. Seeks clarification from the nurse when in doubt about how to proceed.</p> <p>Maintains a safe environment. Reports safety hazards to appropriate personnel. Completes safety event report as necessary. Complies with Infection Control policies. Demonstrates knowledge of safety/emergency policies and procedures and appropriately corrects any identified hazards.</p> <p>Communicates effectively with others. Shows respect to patients, families and co-workers. Reports patient related information in a timely manner. Reports problems in completing assignment/tasks in a timely manner to the appropriate person. Documents observations and tasks performed. Works in collaboration with all members of the health care team. Utilizes chain of command appropriately.</p> <p>Performs supply, equipment, and environmental-related activities as required, and described in principal accountabilities. Recognizes, reports, and follows-up on issues with supply/equipment availability in a timely manner. Reports and follows through as per unit standard concerning equipment that is broken or malfunctioning. Assures equipment/supplies are readily available for use by next person.</p> <p>Acknowledges need for self growth and accountability. Identifies area for self improvement.
